The Opportunity

As our first Instructional Design Lead at Springboard, you’ll play an invaluable role in designing and improving the instructional practices underlying the courses in our Data Science and Engineering verticals. This role presents an exciting opportunity to apply pedagogical principles to a new, cutting-edge model — laying the groundwork for the future of adult education online. You’ll have a great vantage point at the intersection of product, operations, engineering, marketing, and community and have the opportunity to manage Quality Assurance, and be a valuable coach and mentor for Instructional Designers and Copywriters.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design, execution and maintenance of courses for the School of Data such as Data Science and Data Analytics.
  • Work with subject matter experts to curate the content for these courses, and with fellow instructional designers, product managers, and mentor and student operations teams to deliver on all the pedagogical components of Springboard programs
  • Co-design and execute on Springboard’s teaching - learning model for our core job-outcome focused students
  • Adapt the teaching-learning model to fit the learning goals of different audiences including for University and B2B partners.
  • Set learning and course quality targets; create and track metrics that incorporate feedback from multiple qualitative and quantitative sources ; improve courses based on feedback.
  • Make quarterly plans for course development; do capacity planning for the team and represent it on cross - functional planning meetings
  • Develop and manage a growing team of curriculum specialists.

You have

  • Have a Bachelor’s in a STEM subject (such as, but not limited to: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, or Mathematics).
  • Have a graduate degree in Education or in a relevant STEM field
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience and 1+ year of direct experience with e-learning
  • You have a minimum 1 year of experience at a management level, managing, mentoring or coaching
  • Have taken at least one University-level, or coding class in Python or another other coding language.
  • Have formal training in and a strong understanding of instructional design, cognitive psychology, adult learning and online/distance learning.
  • Possess exceptional organizational and project management skills, and live by deadlines.
  • Ability to work and influence in a complex cross functional environment
  • You are a strategic, analytical thinker who is comfortable using data to measure results and inform decisions.
  • Are an excellent communicator, whether you’re working with external subject matter experts or with colleagues across the company.
  • Are passionate about improving education.
