We now need a results-driven Instructional Data Specialist to join our school community.

As a critical member of the Success Academy Education Institute, the Instructional Data Specialist will be a results-driven leader who brings a deep understanding of educational measurement and analytics to drive continuous improvement in the quality and rigor of SA’s curriculum and assessments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide psychometric support to SA’s Education Institute, including production of item and test statistics using both classical and item response theory models.
  • Produce clear, insightful analyses and reports for diverse constituencies of school and network-based staff about school and scholar academic performance as well as teaching, assessment and content quality.
  • Support content development teams in the ongoing review and development of rigorous and equitable assessments.
  • Ensure that curriculum and assessments are designed and tagged with metadata in ways that support measurement goals.
  • Develop feedback mechanisms to identify and remove/revise ineffective items and develop statistically valid inferences that assessments are aligned to stated learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Data & Analytics team in requirements for network-wide academic reporting and dashboards.
  • Support the Chief Learning Officer in additional special projects that may arise.

A successful candidate will have the following qualifications, skills, experience and characteristics:

  • M.A. in Statistics, Education Measurement, Psychological Measurement, Biometrics or a related field with an emphasis on quantitative analysis or psychometrics. Ph.D. strongly preferred.
  • A least five years of experience in an applied measurement or academic/statistical analysis environment.
  • Expertise with classical test theory, equating, and item response theory.
  • Experience with rubric design and methods of qualitative assessment, including measures of inter-rater reliability is a plus.
  • A demonstrated ability to design and lead research projects that produce insightful and actionable analysis.
  • Strong presentation and data visualization skills to communicate data analysis in compelling ways to an executive audience.
