OPPORTUNITY
Ingenium Schools’ next superintendent will embody the mission of bringing joy and meaning to learning for the Ingenium Schools students, staff, and community. The superintendent is wholly dedicated to achieving equity for the students of Ingenium Schools while empowering and supporting staff to flourish as professionals. The superintendent will be an inspiring, people-centered leader who will provide the leadership to achieve the mission, vision, and strategic plan as approved by the Board of Trustees. They will be accountable for maintaining and growing the academic, fiscal, operational, and cultural standing of Ingenium Schools by providing strategic leadership and monitoring in each of these areas.
The superintendent will have an unwavering commitment to these communities and bring a track record of excellence in serving and supporting students with disabilities, multilingual learners, and socioeconomically disadvantaged students.

Schedule: 40 hrs/week minimum
FLSA Status: Exempt
Special: Hybrid working position, but must live near schools as frequents site visits may be required; Requires weekend work, nights and early mornings, and as needed

RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities of the Superintendent include:
KEY CONTRIBUTIONS
- Establishes and maintains vision and leadership for overall success of the organization.
NETWORK CONTRIBUTIONS
- Demonstrates knowledge of and supports Ingenium Schools’ mission, noble cause, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and code of conduct
- Strives to implement, by instruction and action, Ingenium Schools’ philosophy of education and goals/objectives in connection with Ingenium’s Signature Practices
- Continuously maintains and improves professional competence
- Attends mandatory trainings, professional meetings, and educational conferences, as required
- Initiates and exercises good judgment and positive working relationships with the community, students, staff and with public and private agencies
STRATEGIC PLANNING / BOARD SUPPORT
- Lead the Ingenium Learning System and develop or support the organization’s plan for significantly increasing student learning and achievement using the Ingenium Learning System and Ingenium’s Signature Practices
- Monitor the success of all aspects of the organization and drive continual improvement
- Provide information, advice, and counsel to the Board Chair and the Board of Trustees in the creation of policies, programs, and strategic direction of the organization
- Support board activities, including staffing for all Board of Trustees meetings, meeting schedules, locations, development of agendas, and meeting materials
- Act as a liaison with authorizers and other organizations and entities, such as LAUSD, CUSD, CCSA, CSDC, SELPAs, and CDE
- With the assistance of the leadership team, oversee the overall operation of all schools in the Ingenium network, including: reviewing and evaluating the results of program activities; ensuring fulfillment of contractual obligations; allocating resources for increased program effectiveness and efficiency; and developing organizational and administrative policies and program objectives for board consideration
- Refine and execute a clear and compelling strategic vision in partnership with the Ingenium Schools Cabinet that outlines key priorities and goals to advance the organization’s mission and drive improvement in student and network outcomes
- Ensure the organization’s successes and growth areas are transparently shared with all stakeholders
- Inspire, guide, and support the senior leadership team to execute on the strategic direction and fully internalize their roles in ensuring the achievement of short and long-term organizational success
- Leverage collaborative leadership, coalition-building, and systems insight to mobilize innovation and action across a large network
NETWORK-LEVEL INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP
- Oversee organization and school leadership hiring process
- Inspire and support senior leaders to reinforce the highest academic standards and model a commitment to quality tools and continuous improvement through data-driven decision-making that supports whole child development
- Set, maintain, and continually improve the strategic vision and direction for the organization’s instructional framework and approach to teaching and learning to ensure the best outcomes and results for all students
- Prioritize differentiated professional development to ensure network employees have access to the coaching and support necessary to become experts in their craft
- Ensure that socio-emotional and mental health programs continue to flourish alongside academic achievement
FISCAL AND OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT
- Oversee fundraising, facilities development, and financial management of the organization, including the development and implementation of the annual budget and compliance with and monitoring of allowable expenses from grants and one-time funds
- Oversee the development of year-to-year budgets alongside key stakeholders that drive forward the organization’s mission and noble cause while also ensuring long-term sustainability
- Ensure all Ingenium schools have adequate facilities through the Prop 39 process; explore permanent facilities for schools
- Oversee school finances and the systems, processes, and procedures needed to ensure the organization’s long-term fiscal health
- Ensure the Board of Trustees, staff and stakeholders have accurate, timely information to make equitable resource decisions that are in the best interests of Ingenium’s students and families
- Ensure that the organization is meeting and exceeding all compliance metrics including but not limited to state oversight, authorizer oversight, charter renewals, fiscal audits, etc.
TALENT MANAGEMENT
- Build, manage, and retain a high-performing team by creating a supportive and caring environment and ensuring senior leaders have access to the information and resources needed to achieve results
- Implement leadership management strategies across the organization by serving as a thought partner, coach, and mentor
- Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, innovation, and accountability
- Partner with the cabinet to establish and monitor performance indicators that align with the organization’s mission, values, and key priorities
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to build a culture that optimizes staff’s sense of joy and fulfillment, development, safety, health, and well-being
- Engage and evaluate direct reports
COMMUNICATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
- Operate from a place of community orientation and as a learner to identify and dismantle barriers to embedding diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging into all Ingenium Schools interactions and practices
- Model transparency by communicating regularly with internal and external stakeholders to collect feedback, share updates, and provide relevant information
- Develop relationships and establish the trust of local leaders, organizations, LAUSD, CUSD, and elected officials to create alliances and rally the support necessary to advance organizational goals and advocate on behalf of the families and communities we serve
- Ensure that families have a voice in decision-making and are empowered to drive forward the best interests of the organization
QUALIFICATIONS
In order to fulfill these responsibilities, the ideal Superintendent candidate will have the following:
EXPERIENCE
- 7+ years of executive leadership experience with a track record of success in leading an organization in K-12, nonprofit, or education-adjacent fields
- 6 years educational administrative experience strongly desired
- Demonstrated positive outcomes in areas of student academic learning and social-emotional wellbeing
- Proficiency in strategic planning, progress monitoring, implementation, data collection, and management of multiple, complex projects
- Significant leadership in quality processes and tools
- Knowledge of systems management
- People management skills, including the ability to coach, inspire, and effectively work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, with a demonstrated ability to lead teams to achieve goals
- Experience working under time pressure and maintaining a positive work environment
EDUCATION
- Master’s or doctorate degree in school administration or a related field, preferred
REQUIRED LICENSURE
KNOWLEDGE
- Google Suite
- English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
- Computer application and Internet search skills
- Knowledge of charter finance and education law
- Knowledge of quality systems and quality tools for an educational setting

- Bilingual in Spanish preferred

- Experience with nonprofit and/or education organizations required

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position offers a competitive salary range of $180,000 - $220,000, working in a collaborative and results-focused environment with a dedicated staff, helping implement an innovative model to empower learners, interacting with a broad cross-section of Los Angeles communities, and base package health, dental and vision benefits covered at 100% for employee only.
