We are looking for educators and leaders who want to join a small but growing team of diverse community schools. Our first school, Beta Academy in Richmond, CA, opened in 2014 and is now a fully grown K-8 serving 800 students. ChangeMakers Academy in Vallejo, CA opened in fall 2016 and serves 700 students, TK-8th grade. Our long-term vision is to serve students K-12 in our immediate and surrounding communities.

Position Summary

The Part-Time Education Technology Assistant will be responsible for the part time support of our K-8 school in Richmond, CA. You will assist the lead technician in the maintenance of technology support systems, including the deployment and maintenance of hardware, software, and networking systems at the campus.

This is a part-time role located at our campus at 4301 Berk Avenue in Richmond. We anticipate roughly 10 hours per week. The schedule is flexible during normal school hours and will be mutually agreed upon once the ideal person for the position is hired.

The Education Technology Assistant will be responsible for working alongside the lead technician in:

Supporting the technology needs of Caliber students and staff in Richmond

○ Maintaining user accounts such as resetting passwords, maintaining organized email groups, and updating staff and student data and accounts.

○ Monitoring and responding to our online ticketing system in a timely and efficient manner.

○ Deploying, maintaining, and repairing devices for students and staff, including copiers, local printers, Macs, PCs, chromebooks, iphones and ipads.

○ Configuring technology for and supporting campus events such as board meetings, conferences and fundraisers.

Maintaining a “students and teachers come first” culture of customer service

○ Building and maintaining positive relationships with students, teachers, and staff.

○ Communicating in a timely and professional manner, both in person and electronically.

○ Following guidance from the lead technician in the effective prioritization of tickets and other relevant assigned duties.



  • Prior experience maintaining user accounts and other administrative duties requiring close attention to detail and strong organizational habits.
  • Experience with or a deep interest in the maintenance and repair of technology, including but not limited to phones, laptops, printers and copiers, chrome books and networking peripherals.
  • Experience with diagnostic testing, troubleshooting or scientific research involving the testing of hypotheses in an institutional setting.
  • Prior experience with tech support within an educational environment is a strong plus.

  • Technical knowledge, experience with or interest in:

  • Ability to learn quickly and research solutions with unfamiliar technology

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff in a friendly manner
  • Ability to switch direction quickly and adapt as new priorities or complexities arise
  • Ability to see patterns in data and form hypotheses in order to troubleshoot or perform diagnostic tests as needed

Relevant university-level coursework or independent study of computing concepts and languages, principles of logic, networking basics, systems administration, and/or educational technology. BA degree strongly preferred
