OPPORTUNITY

IDEA Public Schools’ National Development team seeks a Director of Annual Giving to lead a best-in-class annual giving program for the organization. Reporting to the Managing Director of National Development, the Director of Annual Giving is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive annual giving program through a variety of marketing, communication and solicitation strategies focused on increasing philanthropic revenue and shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support. The Director will establish leadership/affinity giving circles, naming opportunities, stewardship programs and/or other strategies designed to increase philanthropic revenue, low-to-mid tier donor acquisition, donor engagement and retention. Initially, the Director of Annual Giving will initiate annual giving in Austin, San Antonio, El Paso, and the Rio Grande Valley before iterating and expanding the model to include additional IDEA regions and stakeholders year over year.

The Director of Annual Giving serves as a key member of IDEA’s National Development team and partners closely with teams across the organization, including Marketing and Communications, College and Alumni Success, and Human Assets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of the Director of Annual Giving will be to:

  • Contribute to the national development team’s fundraising goal of $20M in support of IDEA’s growth, college matriculation goals, and programmatic needs.
  • Develop a 5-year strategic plan for a best-in-class annual giving program focused on increasing philanthropic revenue, donor engagement, and donor acquisition.
  • Progressively increase annual giving revenue while broadening the base for support via a comprehensive annual giving plan and appeal schedule.
  • Progressively increase the engagement of key annual giving donors via digital channels, giving circle participation, special event attendance, and other relevant donor experiences.
  • Create an Annual Giving Playbook that includes a suite of tools, trainings, and road maps to support the replication of annual campaigns across multiple regions/states.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred;
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in a complex organizational setting with many stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated success implementing fundraising/marketing strategies that directly impact organizational revenue;
  • Substantial comprehensive annual giving campaign experience;
  • Prior experience with digital marketing/fundraising campaigns, online giving, social media fundraising;
  • Best practices in annual giving for educational institutions and/or medium to large national non-profit organizations;
  • Multi-channel marketing experience, including traditional channels (i.e., direct mail) and digital channels (i.e., email, websites, social media)
  • Strategic planning and project management experience;
  • Experience with Salesforce preferred.
  • Location:Living in Austin, San Antonio, El Paso and the Rio Grande Valley is highly preferred

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salaries for people entering this role typically start between $82,000 and $100,900, commensurate with relevant qualifications and experience. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational goal attainment.
