Human Resources Operations Specialist (Remote, United States)

Gaggle - Remote - Full time

Are you an expert on both employee and contractor compliance? Have you spent considerable time learning the ins and outs of using an HRIS and Applicant Tracking System (ATS)? Do you enjoy managing the details around insurance (business lines), unemployment, state and federal compliance, and virtual office support? Are you passionate about delivering exceptional customer service to your team? Most importantly, would you like to work for a company whose product saves the lives of hundreds of K-12 students annually?

At Gaggle, we are looking for a remote, full-time HR Specialist with a wide berth of HR and administrative skills and a high standard of excellence. We're intensely passionate about what we do - saving lives and protecting kids - and we are looking for an HR Specialist who can bring that level of diligence to our employee relations processes and contractor compliance and support. We want an HR Specialist who will bring excellence, experience, and ability to our team. We need someone who knows how to troubleshoot and maintain high-quality, high-value features within our current (and future!) HRIS platforms.

You'll be able to work from home, but using current technology, you will be messaging or talking to your colleagues and vendors every day.

  • Support our 600+ contractor teams (including unemployment appeals, escalated technical and personnel issues, state and federal reporting, onboarding, and background checks)
  • Manage HR generalist compliance duties for both employees and contractors (state and federal reporting, handbook updates, international staffing)
  • Support entire remote team in office manager capacities (expense reimbursements, printing/mailing, team meeting liaison)
  • Employee relations (onboarding/exit support, grievances)
  • Administrative support to HR and Finance Team as needed
  • Build out our HR playbook with regard to employee relations and contractor support

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of generalist HR experience with an ATS - candidates must be prepared to be tested on skills and knowledge
  • 3+ years of compliance experience (local, state, federal, international)
  • At least one year of experience working with 1099 contractors
  • At least one year working with state and federal government(s) on unemployment, wage garnishment, and other compliance-related issues
  • High technical troubleshooting ability within ATS and integrated systems; must be comfortable calling ATS vendor(s) frequently to advocate for expedient resolutions to complicated technical issues
  • Must be capable of independently learning new technologies with low frequency of errors
  • Experience with entire Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel) required - candidates must be prepared to be tested on skills within Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience working with remote teams required
  • Must have home office set-up ability and the ability to travel periodically for regional meetings
  • Adobe DC experience required
  • Slack, Atlassian Tools (Jira, Confluence) preferred

Candidates must reside in and be residents of the United States. A background check as well as several rounds of interviews and technical, project-based testing will be required of final candidates. While daytime, M-F hours are expected, the HR Specialist will have a great deal of control and flexibility over his/her schedule.

Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, medical, dental, and vision for employees and dependents, unlimited/team-managed paid time off, 100% paid FMLA leave for employees, participation in Gaggle's 401(k) with a company contribution of 4%, and paid company retreats.
