Human Resources and Credentialing Manager

Summit Public Schools - Redwood City, California - Full time

Summit Public Schools is seeking a Human Resources and Credentialing Manager who will play an integral role in achieving our vision and mission through ensuring our faculty are well prepared and exceptionally qualified.

With a strong customer service orientation, this person will work directly with faculty and strategically partner with school leaders to assist their teachers in obtaining and maintaining their certification.

No detail is too small for this person who will ensure we meet all local and state regulations for credentialing and pass important audits without error.

This person is also fiercely efficient. In their work with faculty across 14 schools in 2 states, they will manage our credentialing systems and drive continuous improvement to make the work scalable and sustainable.

As a member of our Home Office this person will collaborate closely with the other teams providing services to schools and report directly to the Director of Human Resources.

What you’ll do:

Job Responsibilities:

Credentialing

  • Identify, review, and evaluate the credentialing qualifications required of new teacher candidates and current faculty
  • Advise prospective teachers and current faculty of requirements for credentials and permits, including courses for certification, upcoming examination dates, and updates from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI)
  • Manage and maintain records on certificated staff to ensure required credentials and CLAD/BCLAD certifications are held, obtained, and maintained in conformance with regulations of the CTC and OSPI
  • Manage credentialing database and prepare information reports for school leaders and local and state officials
  • Strategy partner with Director of Human Resources and school leaders to ensure accountability, and legal compliance
  • Manage successful and finding-free county, district and state audits
  • Collaborate with Recruitment & Selection Team to review applicants’ credentials
  • Stay informed on the changes in CA and WA credentialing regulations
  • Inform prospective teachers and current faculty on changes in requirements and procedures affecting their credential
  • Provide training, maintain credentialing knowledge base and create resources to communicate the credentialing requirements to prospective teachers and current faculty

Human Resources

  • Collaborate with Talent team members on projects to attract, develop and retain high quality and diverse employees
  • Facilitate new hire orientations and onboarding procedures in conjunction with HR Manager
  • Assist with additional human resources tasks as needed

This position is based in Redwood City, CA. This role will require occasional travel throughout the Bay Area, and may require travel to other regions.

What You Need:

  • 2 years of experience as a credentialing analyst or similar role in a similarly sized organization
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Demonstrated knowledge and support of Summit Public Schools mission, values, and standards
  • Deep commitment to continuous improvement
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply instructions, policies, laws, and regulations related to the credential process and requirements
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Superb computer skills, including GoogleDocs and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); most importantly, an intermediate or advanced knowledge of Excel
  • The ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Works well under deadlines and ensures timely completion
  • Ability to work with highly confidential and sensitive matters; and ability to adhere to strict standards of confidentiality
  • Experience or strong interest in K-12 public education; former teacher or background in public education is a plus
