OPPORTUNITY

In partnership with school leaders, the Green Dot Public Schools Human Capital team has the immense responsibility of ensuring that every position is filled with the most capable and mission-driven employee. A motivated Human Capital Manager will work closely with the Senior Human Capital Manager to ensure the recruitment, selection, onboarding and retention of top talent for the California network. The Human Capital Manager will become an excellent teammate and leader, and develop a selection team to improve execution, and push the team’s thinking on developing and executing the best human capital strategies. The Human Capital Manager, manages a Talent Specialist and Human Capital Associate and reports to the Director of Human Capital.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

> Lead the selection team to ensure the region is staffed with the diverse talent needed to achieve our mission and provide regular progress monitoring

> Define and codify interviewing protocols to ensure an equitable and thorough process, including training staff (hiring managers, school hiring committees) on hiring best practices

> Regularly track metrics related to selection and hiring to evaluate effectiveness and improve hiring efficiency

> Assist in executing sourcing strategy for top talent

> Collaborate with Human Resources and New Teacher Development teams to ensure robust and thoughtful onboarding plans across the organization

> Track and analyze data around employee retention and satisfaction. Initiate effective programs and strategies to increase teacher and staff retention

> Cultivate and promote a positive department culture that reflects the mission and values of the organization

> Lead a high-performing selection team, to develop, implement and oversee creative, cost-effective impactful strategies to hire and retain top talent

> Partner with school leaders to determine needs, as well as interview candidates that will lead to tremendous growth for our students and schools. Ensure school leaders are receiving proper and differentiated hiring support.

> Create a project plan to expand support and oversight of home office and non-certificated employees

This job operates in a professional office environment, is largely sedentary, and utilizes typical office equipment (computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.). Normal business hours are 8:30am – 5:30pm, Monday-Friday (although these hours may vary and may require occasional evening and weekend work based on organizational needs). Minimal or no travel required, other than visits to local school sites (as needed).

QUALIFICATIONS

> Bachelor’s degree required

> 2+ years of experience in recruitment and hiring

> Ability to foster the growth and development of others

> Ability to model and cultivate a culture of reflective practice

> Ability to source, select and “sell” prospects to join GDPS

> Exemplary customer service skills

> Strong public speaking skills

> Impeccable organization skills and ability to develop organizational systems

> Strong project management skills

> Ability to maintain positive relations with colleagues at all levels

> Ability to develop new processes and systems; to quickly recognize inefficiencies in current systems; and to generate sound solutions

> Excellent research skills – ingenuity, sophistication, and persistence in tracking down sometimes hard-to-find information

> Ability to synthesize complex information into recommendations

> High level of personal responsibility and drive to set and meet ambitious and measurable goals

> Strong sense of integrity, high standards, and drive to achieve and grow

> Dependability, humility, sense of humor, and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot’s mission and the communities we serve

> Must be able to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer
