Head of Sales

KickUp is looking for a Head of Sales to join a team that is laser-focused on improving the educator experience by improving the quality of support educators receive.

KickUp aims to empower educators by meaningfully engaging them in professional growth. Our platform allows school districts to ensure that every dollar spent in professional development impacts classroom instruction. We’re looking for a sales leader to lead a small team of highly motivated Account Executives, achieve and exceed quota, and bring our product to school districts across the country. As Head of Sales, you’ll serve as both a direct contributor and a key business leader, reporting to our CEO. You’ll play an important role in shaping our best practices, team, and culture.

The ideal candidate has experience building, leading and coaching inside and field-based sales teams to exceed their quota and selling enterprise software and services within the education vertical.

As the Head of Sales, you will:

  • Build and execute strategy for the team to win key net new customers
  • Hire, onboard and retain top-performing sales talent
  • Manage day-to-day operations of sales team (ie. maintain 1:1s with each member of the team, team meetings, etc.)
  • Oversee the development of a robust new-business pipeline and continuously improve conversion rates
  • Manage daily and weekly activities, pipelines and forecast of the team through Hubspot
  • Coach individuals based on their areas of improvement
  • Support the sales team at onsite meetings with prospective school districts
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Client Success and Product teams to ensure cross-team cohesion and inform product, marketing and pricing strategy
  • Review and approve RFP responses

About you

You might be a fit if you:

  • Have 3+ years of experience managing, hiring and motivating strong teams at early-stage companies
  • Have 5+ years selling experience
  • Have experience with Hubspot or a similar sales tech stack
  • Have excellent mentoring, coaching, and people management skills in K-12 setting
  • Have persuasive negotiation skills
  • Are a skillful manager of quotas, budgets, goals and commission structures
  • Understand territory planning
  • Are willing to travel as needed throughout the United States
  • Demonstrate an ability to balance short- and long-term priorities
  • Possess high emotional intelligence and are highly collaborative
  • Take personal ownership in both the individual role and the company’s overall success
  • Have experience working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Are strategic & customer-focused - you’re in tune with the voice of the customer and always let the goals drive your strategy and tactics.
  • Are data-driven - you synthesize customer insights and communicate cross-functionally to inform decision-making
  • Are open to feedback - you value constructive feedback and see it as a way to improve your team’s work

  • A base salary of $120k - $170k based on experience
