Head of People

Goalbook - Remote - Full time

Our Mission and Values

Goalbook’s mission is to empower teachers to transform instruction so that ALL students succeed. We partner with 600 districts across 45 states, working closely with district and school leaders to improve instructional practice. Goalbook was founded in 2011 by Daniel Jhin Yoo and Justin Su.

Our first core value is Relationships. We believe in the power of human connection and the importance of relationships across different strengths, backgrounds, personalities, and identities in order to achieve our shared goals and overall mission.

Our second core value is Growth. We strive to create a supportive and challenging environment so that people are continuously growing as professionals and increasing their impact. We also believe in having the time, space, and support to grow in our personal lives as well.

Who We’re Looking For

This role oversees the people functions of human resources and recruiting. We are truly invested in the long term experience and growth of our team members, and we are looking for a business leader who understands the critical importance of human capital and in being intentional about cultivating an organization’s mission and values.

The ideal candidate will have managed human resources in a growing, mission driven company that strives to create a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace. While experience in K-12 education technology is desirable, we are open to people from other fields. You can demonstrate understanding and experience with the complexities of balancing revenue and profitability, social impact, and the employee experience.

You will recruit talent to Goalbook and ensure that each of our team members, whether newer or experienced, has a defined path of continuous growth. You will help support and coach team members through challenging relationships and conflicts that arise from differing perspectives and priorities. You will continuously refine our people processes and systems that maintain the strength of our team culture and promote our core values of Relationships and Growth.

This is not the typical leadership role. As a company, we have often sacrificed maximum growth in a deliberate effort to grow responsibly. We expect this role to fully embrace our mindset around balancing impact, team culture, profitability, and growth.

* Travel to San Mateo, California headquarters or other locations at least 2-3 times each quarter to collaborate with team members in person (pending resumption of business travel due to COVID-19).
