Head of Marketing

TeachFX - Menlo Park, California or Remote - Full time

Who we are:

TeachFX enables teachers to reach their fullest potential by revealing insights about their own teaching. The TeachFX app captures and analyzes a teacher’s classroom instruction, then surfaces insights about classroom discourse patterns personalized to the teacher. Teachers across the country leverage our data insights and professional learning experiences to create more engaging and equitable classrooms for their students. Over 60 school districts, including Detroit Public Schools Community District, Anaheim Union High School District, and Newport News Public Schools, trust TeachFX to empower their teachers with formative feedback that gets students engaged.

We are looking to hire a Head of Marketing to amplify our rapid growth alongside our mission-driven team. This is a critical role collaborating with senior leadership at a fast-growing education technology company that is changing the conversation about data and learning in schools.

  • In corporate-speak, your objective is to fill the top of the funnel with target accounts and nurture them through the buyer’s journey with the right content at the right time. In TeachFX-speak, your objective is to intrigue, inspire, challenge, educate, delight, and ultimately engage prospective and current partners in the equity, student voice, and teacher professional learning work that’s so urgently needed in schools around the world.

What you’ll do:

  • You’ll build and own the marketing strategy, execution, and results with a focus on revenue, pipeline conversion, and engagement.
  • You’ll craft compelling stories that generate interest in TeachFX and nurture accounts from prospecting to close to expansion.
  • You’ll create valuable content, such as landing pages, email copy, drip campaigns, case studies, white papers, and other sales collateral materials, that inspires our target partners to engage with us, supports SDR outreach, improves sales conversion, and helps launch new product modules.
  • You’ll reach our target partners everywhere they go on the digital web through Google Ads and social media campaigns.
  • You'll design and orchestrate an event strategy (virtual, in-person, and trade shows) to drive brand awareness, lead generation and thought leadership.
  • You’ll collaborate with senior leadership to generate earned media that reaches our target partners and builds our brand.
  • You’ll manage and report on a marketing budget, using data to advocate for future marketing investments that will drive revenue growth.
  • You’ll help create and refine our positioning, messaging, and brand voice.

Who we’re looking for:

We don’t expect every applicant to check off every point below. We encourage you to apply if you meet a majority of the qualifications and this role is aligned with your career trajectory and interests. Everyone at TeachFX is learning and growing, and we want you to learn and grow with us.

  • Ideal experience:
    • B2B marketing experience (e.g., product marketing, account based marketing, growth marketing) with a particular focus on integrated campaigns. Experience marketing Enterprise/SMB SaaS products to education organizations is a plus.
    • Track record of measurable success in developing, nurturing, and growing a sales pipeline as demonstrated by the growth and conversion of prospects to MQLs and of MQLs to SQLs.
    • Previous experience at a startup, or in a similar context where you’re part of a scrappy team that must be smart, creative, and resourceful to accomplish big things.
    • Bonus points for a professional record of commitment to our mission of supporting educators to deliver more equitable and inclusive instruction
  • Desired skills:
    • You are an exceptional storyteller. You know how to craft compelling stories with sticky messages for a specific audience through integrated campaigns.
    • You are a creative problem-solver approaching challenges with both analytical rigor and socio-emotional nuance. You rely on quantitative data from Hubspot, Salesforce, or Google Analytics and qualitative data from sources such as sales calls to inform marketing campaigns.
    • You have an eye for design. You don’t need to be a design expert, but you know what “looks good” in various formats and feel comfortable developing shareable visual content through whatever tools work for you (Canva, Figma, Adobe, etc.).
    • You are both an independent self-starter and a strong team player. You’re biased towards action and can work independently to break down ambiguous problems and find and execute effective solutions. You also have strong collaboration skills, and can work effectively with others on the Partnerships team to find smart and efficient ways to move prospects through our pipeline.

Why you’ll want to work with us:

  • You’ll be a valued member of a winning team with an inspired mission: We celebrate the personal and professional identities of everyone we work with. We’re a diverse, mission-driven team of educators, social entrepreneurs and machine learning experts brought together by a shared desire to promote more meaningful and equitable classroom dialogue. Backed by leading education technology investors, including Ulu Ventures, Newfund, Brighteye Ventures, and Reach Capital, we’ve had tremendous success increasing student engagement in our partner districts, and we’re ready to scale up our team and our impact. You’ll grow as TeachFX grows, and you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our company.
  • You’ll get competitive benefits: We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience, unlimited paid vacation (that people actually use!), generous paid parental leave regardless of gender identity, great healthcare coverage for you and your family, a 401K plan, and a flexible work environment. At TeachFX, we know that life is more than work, and we strive to ensure that every member of our team can excel professionally while maintaining a fulfilling life outside of work. Most of the folks on our team have young children, work remotely, and/or work part-time, and everyone has interesting outside-of-work pursuits.

If this sounds like it could be the right role and the right mission for you, please send (1) a resume and (2) a one-page description of a relevant professional accomplishment you’re proud of and why it was successful to Zach Crago at zach@teachfx.com. (Feel free to include links or attachments referencing your work.) We look forward to meeting you.

TeachFX is an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
