About A Path That Fits

We’re on a mission to help people find meaningful work that fits who they are. We are a career coaching company based in San Francisco and we’re proud to have more 5 star Yelp review than any other career coaching company in the country. We’ve been at it for 10+ years and we are poised for a period of substantial growth. We are looking for someone to lead marketing and operations to take our small company to the next level.

Our products and services include 1:1 career coaching and an online course with over 100 students currently enrolled and several hundred more who have already graduated. The online course has unlimited potential to scale and we’re looking to you to lead that initiative.

Our Culture

We love our work. We are wholeheartedly committed to our clients and creating the highest quality coaching programs. We have a small intimate team and deep relationships with each other. We are passionate, creative, soulful, and committed to doing great work that has a positive impact.

The Position: Head of Marketing & Operations

We are growing and looking for an entrepreneurial spirited marketing and operations lead to join our team. We have an excellent established product and a strong brand. We want you to take our business from a two person coaching practice with an online course serving 100 students per year to a coaching business/online education company serving 1000+ students per year.

The role will require a mix of expertise in marketing and operations. You’ll be responsible for building a robust digital marketing funnel AND the operational systems and business infrastructure to support 10X growth. We want you to make our business purr, at scale.

We are a very small company with little structure. To succeed in this role, you’ve got to be willing to get your hands dirty with the details as you build systems, create structure, and hire key team members and contractors.

Marketing & business development:

  • Lead marketing and sales to increase student enrollment in online course from 100 students per year to 1000 students per year.
  • Build and refine an evergreen digital marketing campaign (with the help of Adrian). Including: Facebook Ads, retargeting, lead magnets, webinar, email autoresponder campaign, deadlines, tripwires, etc.
  • Run product launches of the online course a few times per year (non-evergreen model).
  • Build relationships with joint venture partners and affiliates for cross-promotion.
  • Project manage the details associated with a complex marketing funnel.
  • Help develop and launch new products and services (ex: build out a new service arm of the business to offer resume writing).
  • Identify new areas and channels for growth.

Operations:

  • Create more efficient operating systems that can scale.
  • Build and streamline business operations including:
    • Standardizing the product so it can scale.
    • Building a robust digital marketing funnel.
    • Sales and enrollment.

  • Build and manage a great team of part time contractors (online coaches, copywriter, sales and customer support person, marketing automation expert, admin assistant, etc.).
  • Product development: Develop systems to collect client data and track client progress in the online course. Use data insights to collaborate with Adrian to update product and services.
  • You can recommend and implement technology to automate whatever can be automated for greater efficiencies.
  • On demand help with anything related to operations: You are available to help out with the one off requests, issues, and projects that arise in the day to day operations of running a business.

Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S

Our ideal candidate has previous experience in one of the following industries: coaching, online education, eLearning, EdTech, and/or digital marketing. If you’ve already worked for a company selling online courses, we are especially excited to talk to you.

Additionally, you:

  • Know how to build products and a company infrastructure to support massive growth.
  • Know and love digital marketing.
  • Have an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Are willing to wear a lot of hats and get your hands dirty with the less glamorous tasks of running a small business.
  • Have a mind for business and a lot of heart and integrity. You care about producing the highest quality products and doing right by our clients.
  • Are passionate about our product and the idea of “A Path That Fits.”
  • Are an excellent communicator with high emotional intelligence.
  • Are a systems thinker, super organized.
  • Know how to use technology to streamline operations.
  • Can make sh*t happen and get things done.
  • You are a do-er. You figure out what needs to be done and how to get it done and ask for help as needed but don’t need someone holding you accountable.
  • Can represent our brand out in the world

You might look at the above responsibilities and think: “There’s more that I can offer to help this business scale that they don’t even know about.” Great, we’d love to hear about it if we meet.

Hours and Pay

Hours: This can be a part time or full time position. We are most interested in finding the right fit and willing to make it work to accommodate your lifestyle and financial needs.

Pay: $70K-100K (DOE, includes base salary + a percentage of profit). Compensation will increase as business grows.

Flex time: We have standard hours and are also flexible. For us, it’s about getting the job done while meeting the needs of a modern, collaborative workplace. We balance personal work-life balance and design with the needs of clients and internal collaboration.

Location: San Francisco. Most of your time will be spent working remotely. We will meet in person in Berkeley or SF once or twice a week.
