OPPORTUNITY

The Director of Educational Training will build and oversee a team of seven Educational Training and Development Coaches that will focus on teacher coaching and development across the Promise Academies. Working alongside principals, the Director of Educational Training will research, design, and oversee the implementation of “best-in-class” systems and processes for evaluating teacher effectiveness and development. The data collected from these tools will be used to drive mid-year and end-of-year teacher and principal evaluations.

The Director of Educational Training and their team will leverage data to identify potential teacher training gaps to deliver targeted feedback and coaching to improve educator effectiveness, including through school-based workshops. This team will also be responsible for conducting and implementing the findings from ongoing research and development related to teacher development for Promise Academies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Build and lead the Training and Development team

  • Hire, manage and coach a seven person coaching team for Promise Academies;
  • Oversee the training and development provided to all teachers;
  • Design school-based workshops alongside school leadership teams to support Promise teachers and staff;
  • Manage all individual team data, providing targeted feedback and support to staff members as well as monitoring the team’s effectiveness;
  • Plan, organize, and lead training programs, ensuring proper execution at all levels;
  • Create tools and systems to evaluate effectiveness of all training initiatives;
  • Design effective training programs and materials aligning with the team’s goals and school vision;
  • Conduct research, approves, and makes further recommendations for appropriate learning management systems and databases;
  • Works alongside principals to provide formal feedback for teachers throughout the mid-year and end of year review cycle;
  • Effectively communicate with school leadership, C-suite and board members about team progress and goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform the job successfully, competitive applicants should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Master’s degree (required);
  • 5+ years of teaching experience including a record of success (required);
  • 5+ years of administrative experience including a record of success (required);
  • A valid New York State Teaching Certification (required);
  • Extensive course work experience in curriculum development;
  • “Can-do” attitude, comfortable leading a brand new function at the schools;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Constantly seeks out and implements bold ideas to drive student achievement;
  • Respectful and relationship oriented towards all stakeholders.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
