Grants and Reporting Finance Analyst

The Grants and Reporting Finance Analyst will be responsible for managing and analyzing financial federal and state educational grant programs. They will support budgeting, forecasting and reporting. The ideal candidate is proficient in Excel, comfortable working with financial data, has an understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and experience using SaaS financial reporting systems. In addition, this person will be joining a team environment with collaborative and cross functional working relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead in the application processes, ongoing reporting and researching of key federal and state education grants
  • Analyze grant sources along with timing and reconciliation of funding, reviewing accounting information detail
  • Support in the development and maintenance of financial models for purposes of budgeting and forecasting
  • Assist in developing content and procedures for timely and actionable report preparation across Finance
  • Analyze and report monthly grant financial results and provide detailed reports and feedback for internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience working under monthly closing deadlines


  • Commitment and passion for Rocketship’s mission, vision, and goals
  • 3-5+ years of experience working in accounting or finance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting (strong knowledge of GAAP required)
  • Strong understanding of financial statements
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with Accounting systems
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently & within a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working for a cause or an organization that is bigger than oneself, and being an Activist for the Organization

Work Location

  • This role is primarily based out of our Redwood City, CA national office
  • Remote working is available one to two days per week
