Girls Curriculum and Content Lead (12 month role)

We are looking for a Girls Curriculum and Content Lead to lead the development of a new set of educational materials for middle school girls. The ideal candidate is an excellent writer with expertise creating engaging, research-backed educational materials for teen or tween girls. Due to COVID-19, our team is working remotely on PDT hours through July 2021. Beyond that, this full-time position will be based out of our office in Palo Alto, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of a new set of educational materials for middle school girls
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (academics, practitioners, etc.) to distill research and best practices into educational concepts
  • Collaborate with design thinking experts to turn educational concepts into an effective and engaging curriculum to be used in structured settings like schools and clubs
  • Shape the curriculum with a strong DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) lens - constantly pushing it to be more inclusive
  • Lead curriculum testing throughout the development process to ensure it’s engaging for middle school girls and effective at creating the intended impact
  • Draft curriculum content and incorporate feedback from a wide range of reviewers and stakeholders
  • Adapt curriculum for broader uses outside of structured settings (e.g., within families, amongst friends, etc.)
  • Learn, follow through, and improve upon foundation processes to set principal and exec team up for success

Requirements

  • 4-7 years of experience designing and writing engaging learning materials for middle school girls
  • Experience working in learning environments with middle school girls representing diverse cultures, ethnicities, abilities, gender identity, and sexual orientation
  • Deep understanding of the issues and developmental challenges facing teen and tween girls
  • Familiarity with current research and best practices related to curriculum development and instructional pedagogies
  • Demonstrated experience distilling research into accessible written materials
  • Ability to work directly with and balance inputs from a wide range of experts and thought leaders
  • Experience using design thinking and user testing to create content or programming that meet the target audience’s needs
  • Degree in education, child development, developmental psychology, or related field preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of how to drive toward more intersectional and inclusive outcomes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to learn, follow through, and improve on foundation processes to set team and principal up for success
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment; consumer brand and/or startup experience a plus
  • Ability to tackle complex problems with a strategic mindset and thoughtful, proactive approach
  • Strong advocate for equity, inclusion, and uplifting marginalized voices
  • Passion for mission of Lean In
  • Available to consistently work PDT hours
