getCoding Instructional Facilitator + Curriculum Developer

9 Dots - Los Angeles, CA - Full time

getCoding Instructional Facilitator + Curriculum Developer

9 Dots is a community of engineers, educators, and researchers committed to creating an education culture that gives more kids the chance to imagine and build their own futures. We started the getCoding Initiative to support Title I schools in building computer science (CS) education pathways from Kindergarten to AP Computer Science Principles. The getCoding initiative is one of the leading programs enacting change in CS education in Los Angeles, and we have partnered with Code.org, LAUSD, and UCLA’s Exploring Computer Science to share and reflect on best CS teaching practices. We offer a full suite of support options that make it easy for schools to quickly adopt coding as a subject. By pairing our experienced instructors with classroom teachers, we build a school’s capacity to teach coding.

We are seeking an exceptional teacher to become a getCoding Instructional Facilitator + Curriculum Developer. Exceptional teachers believe that every lesson has the power to inspire and that every student can master the tools required to succeed in the 21st century. Exceptional teachers fearlessly take on new challenges and are lifelong learners. We are looking for teachers that recognize the opportunity and power that a CS education presents and believe in their own ability to learn and teach the fundamentals of CS.

getCoding Instructors lead computer science instruction at our partner schools before gradually releasing responsibility to site teachers. Instructors will be content knowledge and blended learning experts to model best practices for our site teachers. Instructors will work intensively with the 9 Dots instruction team to hone their CS teaching skills and will work with the 9 Dots curriculum team to apply data-driven strategies to develop dynamic coding lessons that ensure all students are engaging with the material.
