Full-Time: School District Partnerships Manager

KQED - San Francisco, California - Full time

KQED Education is a distinct and critical contributor to KQED’s public service mission, creating and disseminating unique, engaging educational content focused on enhancing educator effectiveness and accelerating learning for youth aged 11–18 in the Bay Area and beyond. KQED elevates diverse youth voices by developing their ability to analyze and evaluate information sources, create media that powerfully communicates their ideas, and share their unique voices with a broad public media audience so that they experience being part of the public conversation and gain readiness for civic life. We help educators to create learning environments of the 21st century by promoting media literacy, student voice, civic engagement, creative expression, and using digital media.

We are looking for a School District Partnerships Manager who is:

  • Strategic. You lead KQED product and service implementation in schools and districts for all KQED Education products. You prioritize the products and services that fit individual Bay Area schools’ and school districts’ needs and refine approaches to implementation that meet the identified needs and priorities. You measure results, make data-backed decisions, and iterate strategies and tactics.
  • A leader. You lead the development and communicate the strategy, goals, and outcomes for each school and district partnership with KQED to all stakeholders and team members. You articulate the KQED products and services value proposition to potential partners.
  • Audience-focused. You are a strong communicator who can successfully navigate complex systems. You understand educators. You understand school administrators.
  • Mission-driven. You are passionate about education and public media. You are a champion of public school systems. You are inspired by the vision of transforming young people’s ability to think critically about the media they consume online and empowering them to share their own ideas through their own media creations.
  • Hands-on. We are a small and collaborative department. We wear many hats and rely on each other to be generative and generous colleagues. On a given day, you might be writing a product and service implementation plan for a school district, pitching KQED Education resources to external stakeholders, or delivering a quarterly report to key partners (such as PBS, school districts, or other educational partners).

One of KQED’s core values is that we are better together and that we commit to learning, growing, and holding ourselves accountable. We value the contributions of marginalized people in society — including Black, Indigenous, and all people of color, people with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ people — and we believe that these communities must be centered in the work we do, and we strongly encourage members of these communities to apply.

This role will be hybrid between working in KQED's newly renovated headquarters in San Francisco’s Mission District and working remotely. KQED requires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or to provide documentation of a need for an exemption.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead product and program school district implementation strategy for KQED Education products and services including KQED Teach, KQED Learn, PBS Media Literacy Certification, and related professional learning services.
  • Maintain Bay Area education administrator prospect list with appropriate status.
  • Work with Product Marketing Manager to identify new schools and districts using KQED products for outreach and potential partnership opportunities.
  • Work with the marketing team to create an engagement kit for school administrators.
  • Meet with current and prospective school and school district partners to determine the need and support the adoption of KQED education resources.
  • Convert qualified leads to customers and meet adoption goals.
  • Work with school and school district partners to determine needs and deliver custom plans for the integration of KQED education resources and services.
  • Lead planning and kick-off meetings. Coordinate implementation tactics with internal and external professional learning teams and related partner stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with the product team to complete district implementation processes including any needed coordination of student data, privacy, and system integration efforts.
  • Coordinate with the Education content team to deliver professional development for educators as part of an implementation plan.
  • Track implementation status.
  • Report on usage metrics in districts. Identify opportunities for improvement and share findings with internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Regularly communicate with school or district program managers to understand challenges to adoption and usage of our tools, emerging trends, and how KQED can improve the effectiveness of product and service implementation.
  • Communicate across multiple stakeholders in various channels in a way that drives awareness, connection, and adoption.
