Field Marketing Specialist, VSL

Job Overview:

Voyager Sopris Learning, a fast-growing Cambium Learning Group company, is currently seeking an experienced and driven Field Marketing Specialist to join the strategic marketing team. This is a pivotal role in executing marketing strategies and programs to support strategic sales initiatives. This position works cross-functionally with Sales and Marketing teams to bring the brand to life at the district / school level and generate leads to drive sales. They will be responsible for developing and executing regional and account-based marketing campaigns, collateral, events, and other marketing activities as assigned. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Marketing.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design, create and execute multi-tactic marketing programs including demand generation, customer marketing, and lead nurturing programs. Tactics may include content syndication, email marketing, events and webinars, direct mail, telemarketing, print advertising, internal and external newsletters, etc.
  • Develop and write marketing messaging materials targeted to buyer personas and tailored to specific states and accounts. Inform customers and prospects of VSL’s thought leadership, build brand awareness, and establish VSL as the market leader in K-12 education.
  • Partner with Product Marketing, Content Marketing, Sales, and external resources to create targeted messaging and content to support brand awareness and demand generation, i.e. content for our website, digital ads, landing pages, emails, video, interactive, etc.
  • Provide highly disciplined and organized project management and excellent communication across functional teams.
  • Build strong partnering relationships, collaborate and manage internal and external resources as needed to execute programs.
  • Analyze results of marketing programs and identify ways to improve effectiveness.
  • Develop and create annual marketing plans, and to support the sales teams goals.
  • Create, test, monitor, and optimize campaigns iteratively to track ROI and maximize conversion.
  • Collaborate cross functionally to implement the marketing strategy and execute campaigns, i.e. design and editorial services.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Marketing, Mass Communication, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years total marketing experience with 2+ years of experience developing and executing successful demand generation programs, delivering growth, and increasing ROI highly preferred.
  • Must be a strong communicator and collaborator with ability to elicit ideas and feedback from a variety of organizations.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong project management skills, to own project plans through the lifecycle of various projects.
  • Experience in education technology, publishing or software marketing is required.
  • K-12 experience preferred.
  • Experience working with internal stakeholders to create messaging and collateral.
  • Experience working with graphic designers or creative professionals to develop collateral that reflects the product brand and needs of the target audience.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with little supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Experience generating and tracking leads in and analyzing data.
  • Proven experience in a wide variety of inbound/outbound marketing disciplines, including social media (i.e. Facebook, LinkedIn), paid and organic search, advertising, retargeting, email, direct and event marketing.
  • Experience with Account Based Marketing preferred
  • Exceptional command of the English language including verbal and written communication skills.
  • Manage budget, develop and execute quarterly and annual strategy and tactical plans, and evaluate ROI of all campaigns and events in assigned territory.
  • Takes initiative and functions effectively, both independently and as a member of a team, with a willingness to take on and assist with routine and last minute projects.
  • Occasional travel to assigned regions in support of sales (10%).
