Asst. Superintendent, Human Resources

We are Seeking an Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources with these Essential Skills and Qualifications: 

Recruitment, Selection, Classification, and Promotion
  • Determines recruitment and selection procedures and supervises the recruitment and selection process for management, certificated and classified employees
  • Authorizes forms directed to payroll for step increases, column transfers, seniority, transfers, promotions, date of starting, and other salary related matters.
  • Manages and controls the staffing ratios and positions of the school district.
  • Provides a positive evaluation system which is effective, qualitative and objective for all certificated and classified personnel.
  • Monitors and supervises the substitute teacher procurement program.
  • Provides direction and assistance in implementing the certificated and classified procedures manuals.
Employee Relations
  • Recommends policies and procedures for terminating certificated administrators, teachers and classified employees, including reprimands for poor performance and behavior.
  • Establishes and maintains employee/employer relations including employee counseling, employee recognition, employee orientation and employee exit interviews.
  • Serves as the district representative in certificated and classified contract negotiations under Board/Superintendent guidelines.
  • Provides direction and assistance in implementing the certificated and classified procedures manuals.


  • Works closely with the Assistant Superintendent-Business Services for budget changes and implications.
  • Coordinates with Superintendent to develop and implement new legislation, develop and update personnel policies and procedures and update job descriptions.
  • Monitors credential records to insure that all certificated staff possess valid teaching and service credentials and serves as resource for teachers regarding credentials.

  • Promotes a positive climate for all employees throughout the district.
  • Encourages cooperative working relationships and high morale among all employees.
  • Works in cooperation with the Superintendent and other administrative staff to provide recognition of various employee groups
Management and Supervision of Staff
  • Assists in providing direction and recommending personnel policies for all management, certificated and classified staff following California laws and district guidelines
  • Supervises the Director-Human Resources and Personnel Analysts. Performs related duties as assigned. 

Applicant Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Valid California Administrative Services Credential
  • Bachelor's degree and Master's Degree
  • Minimum of five (5) years of classroom teaching experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years Human Resources administrative experience required. 
  • Demonstrated leadership, organization and management skills.
