We continue to grow at an elevated pace and are seeking an experienced Business Development Executive to join our team. The Business Development Executive will develop and execute on a plan to assist other EdTech software vendors to become Ed-Fi certified and/or to build native API support for Ed-Fi standards. This role will inform vendors of the benefits of participating in the Ed-Fi product and data standards, assist in implementing a plan for building API’s, provide or source technical resources to assist with the process, and work closely with the Ed-Fi Alliance (a subsidiary of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation) to increase adoption of the Ed-Fi standards, which in turn form the foundation of Certica’s Data Connect product offering. This position will report directly to the Executive Vice President of Sales but will work closely with the CEO, VP of Services and product management team on a day to day basis. The ideal candidate will have a technical background and a track record of creating new markets in the software industry.

While it is preferred that this position be located in either of our Austin, TX or Wakefield, MA offices, telecommuting from another location in the United States will also be considered.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Create, develop, and execute on a plan to educate EdTech vendors on the value of participating in Ed-Fi technology and data standards;
  • Become an EdTech industry spokesperson and thought leader on the value of application interoperability;
  • Work directly with key EdTech vendors, establish plans for their Ed-Fi adoption and technical roll out;
  • Develop turnkey assistance program for smaller vendors;
  • Work with the Ed-Fi Alliance to develop programs to leverage financial and technical resources offered by the Ed-Fi Alliance for vendors to use;
  • 25% to 40% travel expected.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role for an application or software-as-a-service (SaaS) company;
  • Proven ability to generate new opportunities and create new markets;
  • Capable of thinking strategically and creatively while also executing quickly and pragmatically;
  • Strong technical background and ability to converse at a technical level;
  • Proven ability to influence others both directly and indirectly;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both internally and externally with customers;
  • Strong organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking ability;
  • Experience using Salesforce is desirable;
  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
