Executive Director

XtraMath - Seattle, Washington or Remote - Full time

XtraMath seeks a forward-thinking, innovative Executive Director who will spur and inspire staff, educators, students, and the educational/EdTech community with a collaborative vision for XtraMath that delivers a valuable software product and experience that engages all end-users.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be responsible for XtraMath’s consistent achievement of its mission, programs, administration, and financial objectives.

The Executive Director will effectively provide strategic leadership and planning for XtraMath and ensures the mission is upheld. Entrepreneurial and strategic, the Executive Director will be able to understand market needs to continue developing and prioritizing XtraMath’s product roadmap. The Executive Director will work with the board leadership to enhance the organization’s reputation through networking and convening key stakeholders within the local and national educational community as well as potential donors.

The successful candidate will have knowledge or experience working with a cloud-based education application for K-12 public schools and the private sector.

Candidate Qualifications:

Organizational Leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to provide visionary and inclusive leadership and inspire and motivate staff members.
  • Exhibited ability to create and implement strategic plans.
  • Proven organization management, planning, administrative and supervisory skills.
  • Understanding of different leadership models.
  • Can effectively make decisions and ensure a culture of transparency.
  • Demonstrated ability in change management.
  • Experience working with and leading a volunteer Board of Directors.
  • Ability to conduct board development and recruitment.
  • Knowledge and experience around racial equity and operationalizing it within an organization.

Product Management

  • Represent the product, market, and users to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Be able to drive high-value product strategy to meet user needs.
  • Ability to learn and understand XtraMath’s place in the market and drive changes to the product and processes that will create quality improvements.
  • Communicate organization strategy, vision, and market research into prioritizing roadmaps and goals for the product.
  • Prototype and test new features and ideas in the market.
  • Lead product launches on a timely basis – working with staff to plan, build, and release new product features and experiences.
  • Experience working in the K-12 EdTech market and preferably in math education.
  • Broad understanding of data and privacy laws and requirements for K-12 education and be able to execute privacy agreements.
  • Must be familiar with: user/buyer research, UX/UI design, K-12 math curriculum, instructional design, usability testing, mobile apps, web apps, and accessibility.

Financial and Fundraising Leadership

  • Working knowledge of nonprofit financial statements, accounting practices, and audit practices.
  • Ability to undertake school purchasing process, generate invoices, and process vendor agreements and payments.
  • Generate new sources of revenue by creatively and strategically expanding XtraMath’s existing donor base.
  • Working knowledge of nonprofit financial statements, accounting practices, and audit practices.
  • Expand and develop fundraising opportunities through new and ongoing strategic partnerships.

Operational Leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee complex operational programs serving targeted clients or recipients.
  • Ability to develop and lead others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least five years of senior management experience; track record of effective leadership and growing a nonprofit organization regionally and/or nationally; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth and impact.
  • Excellence in staff management with the ability to create and maintain a collaborative work environment where everyone feels valued.
  • Demonstrated fundraising experience, including strategy, a track record of achieving increased financial support, donor stewardship and retention, and major donor solicitation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.

Additional Information

  • This position is located in Seattle, WA, and/or the possibility of being remote and is a full-time, exempt position
  • Salary is dependent upon experience – salary range is $85,000 - $100,000.
