Executive Director, Continuing Education

The University of Central Florida (UCF) Continuing Education (CE) division is seeking an Executive Director of Continuing Education.

The Executive Director of Continuing Education provides the necessary leadership for CE to achieve its mission of organizational and operational excellence by ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated to support program success. The Executive Director works collaboratively with internal university departments and external partners to identify and capitalize on opportunities to increase the numbers of adult learners enrolling in UCF credit and non-credit programs. The Executive Director seizes on the urgent push for upskilling, micro-credentialing, and pioneering of academic programs to fill in skills gaps in the community and beyond. The Executive Director is also charged with developing and implementing strategies and objectives that align with the university’s strategic goals including but not limited to developing partnerships with business and industry to become a preferred educational provider.

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

- Provides oversight and direction for the planning, organization, and leadership of Continuing Education fiscal accountability, physical office/classroom space, and program support in conjunction with the Vice Provost, Division of Digital Learning. 

- Oversees market rate, self-supporting, non-credit, and affiliate partnership programs and acts as the programs’ fiduciary authority for budgets, marketing, enrollment, and scheduling. 

- Establishes goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and action plans for CE operations and adult initiatives that are consistent with the unit, division, and university strategic plans. Supports institutional effectiveness goals.

- Establishes and monitors direct reports’ performance and development goals, sets objectives, establishes priorities, conducts frequent coaching and annual performance appraisals.

- Collaborates with UCF academic colleges and administrative units to determine resource availability for degree-seeking and non-degree-seeking students with an emphasis on adults who have a desire to enhance their skills through professional development credit and non-credit offerings. 

- Leads a collaborative annual operational planning process to include the creation of an annual report and an organizational business plan. Provides reports at the university and state levels.

- Collaborates with organizations to lead and drive a vertical academic strategy for internal, external, and potential partners. Serves as primary contact for educational and business partners both internal and external to UCF.

- Provides guidance and consultative support to internal and external stakeholders on credit programs’ development and continuance.

- Establishes relationships and networks with Central Florida organizations, chambers, and educational partners focused on workforce development and career pathways.

- Collaborates with CE leaders in the State University System to ensure UCF remains a model of excellence. 

- Performs related duties as required or deemed appropriate to support the accomplishment of the responsibilities and functions of Continuing Education.

- Other responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years of leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Doctorate/Terminal degree from an accredited institution preferred.

- The ideal candidate will be an innovative, strategic, and entrepreneurial professional with outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

- The preferred candidate will have professional experience in a college or university continuing education organization, and be ready to lead a growing, energized division.

- Experience in development and managing delivery of non-credit training, customized training for employers, test-prep, and short courses and programs in leadership and supervision, information technology, project management, and financial planning.

- Demonstrated ability to assess priorities and focus resources to meet performance targets and achieve Continuing Education goals.

- Experience managing a diverse staff in a hybrid work environment.

- Experience in workforce development, assessing the job market to fill in skill gaps, and establishing connections with companies looking to hire CE-credentialed students.
