  • Lead simultaneous projects, including including creating client-facing project plans and calendars; anticipating and mitigating internal and external risks to delivery; managing client expectations and a wide range of stakeholders to milestone and task completion
  • Communicate effectively across a wide range of stakeholders with diverse perspectives and skills. Be able to communicate IT related concepts and processes to stakeholders who may not have IT expertise
  • Thrive in an agile project management environment
  • Review all creative and technical output prior to client delivery, including designs, sketches, wireframes, creative concepts, prototypes and functional tools
  • Partner with the Chief Implementation Officer to ensure successful implementation of Tembo’s enterprise wide project portfolio; this includes creating integrated, cross-project timelines; developing resource allocation processes and prioritizing initiatives or projects.
  • Guide clients through problem identification, product configuration choices and the articulation of business requirements or client needs, ensuring thorough documentation along the way
  • Build strong relationships with clients, inspiring a high level of client confidence
  • Plan and facilitate user trainings, and create and maintain training materials


  • Evaluate client data for fitness for use for various analytics; develop and implement mitigations for data quality issues
  • Identify opportunities to leverage descriptive and inferential statistical techniques to further analyze clients’ data for insights
  • Conduct statistical analyses, metric development and creation, and related data diagnostics in statistical software
  • Communicate research results at all levels, including to senior leaders of education agencies


  • Develop proposals related to Tembo’s existing product suite as well as school accountability, performance management, applied research and analytics, and data visualization related projects; represent Tembo externally at relevant business development and education industry meetings.

Your Background

  • Either:
    • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (social science, business, education, public policy, applied mathematics, statistics or related fields) and 3-5 years of work experience; or
    • 7-10 years of work experience managing research projects and an undergraduate or master’s degree in one of these disciplines
  • Subject matter expertise in K-12 education; expertise in school accountability, assessment, portfolio management or student achievement a plus
  • Extensive project management skills honed from designing and implementing complex initiatives
  • Experience integrating and analyzing longitudinal student-, teacher- and school-level data
  • Deep technical expertise in research design and statistical analysis, accompanied by applied experience with statistical programming packages (e.g. Stata, R, or Python)
  • Excellent quantitative thinking, including the ability to examine available data, apply decision rules and analytical methods and produce meaningful results
  • Strong attention to detail and a fundamental concern for the accuracy of information, including the ability to organize large amounts of data and track multiple projects simultaneously
  • Data visualization skill and experience working with designers and developers are also a plus
