About the role - Email Marketing Associate

The Email Marketing Associate will join the Communications & Marketing team, working under the Director of Marketing to manage iCivics’ email strategy and serve as lead copywriter. This role will support the planning, execution, and measurement of email campaigns that focus on increasing customer engagement. You will also support the design of automated email programs, segmentation and personalization strategies, and thought leadership on email channel growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Support the design of an email strategy that best serves iCivics’ business goals of driving customer acquisition, engagement, and retention for K-12 products and professional learning services, as well as drive visibility for public campaigns, thought leadership, and events.
  • Manage daily email marketing operations, including developing a proactive editorial calendar to schedule messages to target audiences, which are primarily K-12 educators, but also includes VIP/funders, partners, policymakers, and civic education ambassadors in partnership with the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer.
  • Facilitate an internal email request system, working in partnership with cross-functional teams to prioritize and meet program needs, ensuring all email requests are scheduled, written, tested, approved, and delivered on time.
  • Write email messages and serve as lead copy editor for pre-written content, ensuring adherence to messaging, tone, and brand style guidelines.
  • Work closely with the Creative Director to build and modify existing email templates to enhance user experience and engagement.
  • Support the Hubspot email/CRM platform, working with the Director of Marketing to build a plan to utilize its full capabilities.
  • Support the design of segmentation and automated strategies, working towards implementing dynamic messaging approaches through Hubspot’s personalization tools in partnership with the Senior Product Marketing Manager.
  • Own processes and documentation around our email program, including workflows, testing, programs and campaigns, segmentation, data mapping, and more.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs of all email campaigns and actively adjust the test roadmap to improve overall KPIs, preparing monthly and quarterly reports.

What you’ll need:

  • 5-7 years of overall professional experience, with 2-3 years of experience specifically in email marketing serving B2C customers.
  • Experience using Hubspot.
  • Experience in K-12 education is preferred but not required.
  • Experience proactively managing and coordinating multiple projects across internal teams, balancing strategy with tactical execution.
  • Analytical chops; you have the ability to quickly derive insights from data and analysis and design tests and campaigns to continue to push ideas.
  • The confidence to assert influence in meeting deadlines, ensuring the team stays on track with critical deliverables and communication timelines.
