Email Marketing Associate

Flatiron School is looking for an Email Marketing Associate. This is a great opportunity for a smart, creative, and technical marketer to build out and optimize the way we activate and engage our growing database of prospective students through email.

The ideal candidate is obsessed with the prospective customer experience and is excited to optimize how people move through our funnel with compelling messaging, personalization, smart segmentation and email workflow architecture. As the Email Marketing Manager, you will help us build out our email marketing program and be responsible for its ability to successfully drive conversion to our dozens of programs worldwide.

You’ll also be tasked with helping Flatiron School build processes that scale with our growth. As such, we’re looking for someone who is equal parts creative and analytical — ready to conceptualize and write creative emails and also consistently run and analyze data driven experiments on our email program. This cross-functional role will be integral to Flatiron School’s growth, as this person will create and send emails to hundreds of thousands of contacts supporting dozens of programs and have a sizeable impact on revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualization and implementation of email drip campaigns. Create email journeys based off key offers and conversion points with multiple layers of personalization and segmentation with a goal of moving leads through the funnel. Includes building the email flow logic, writing creative error-free copy, collaborating with designers, and implementing into our marketing automation platform (currently Hubspot).
  • Execution of batch-emails, promotions, and newsletters. From ideation to execution, deploy successful batch emails to different key database segments every week. Emails could include scholarships and discounts, announcements, event invites, and content offers.
  • Tracking Success. Monitor on a daily and weekly basis how people are engaging with the email program and how it’s driving our key metrics. Define email KPIs and build a tracking system that we can scale with.
  • Cross-Functional Communication. Work cross-functionally with Admissions, Product, and Education teams to drive transparency about and buy-in for email programs. Manage email communication requests from different stakeholders and prioritize them against the objectives of the program as a whole.

Skills We’re Looking For:

  • Experience with Email Marketing: 3+ years experience working with email marketing, preferably with a product/service with a long customer lifecycle.
  • Skilled Copywriter: Passionate about crafting compelling copy and messaging. Excellent at creating succinct and grammatically correct email copy.
  • Experience with A/B Testing: Would be comfortable deploying multiple email A/B tests effectively per week.
  • Takes Ownership: Can take on a project and run with it independently. Comfortable approaching new tasks and learning on the job.
  • A Doer : Gets stuff done! Moves fast and has a bias for action and execution.
  • Technical: Passionate about exploring and mastering technology and systems. Not afraid to get into the weeds with new technology.
  • Data Driven: Builds for data driven decision making. Ability to quickly and effectively analyze data points to drive effective experimentation and growth.
  • Hubspot Experience a Plus! Or, experience with a similar product like Marketo or Pardot.
