The problem? We're suffering from a national shortage of substitute teachers.Swing Education is focused on tackling the substitute teacher shortage. We make it easy for great schools and quality subs to find each other. We help schools access more subs and offload tedious work (recruiting, screening, payroll, etc.) and we help subs find jobs, gain experience and build their professional network.

The Email & Marketing Automation Manager will create, execute, and optimize our email marketing strategy. Your main responsibilities will include running email marketing campaigns end-to-end, managing our email database, creating nurture paths and workflows, and optimizing campaigns utilizing data and creative insights.This is a unique role that will span both substitute teachers and school decision makers, bringing to life marketing strategies for both sides of our two-sided marketplace. Email is a critical channel to drive awareness and conversion, as well as communicating with our existing school and sub communities. . Your role will enable our Talent team to bring more substitute teachers into our community, and sales to develop more school partnerships. This role reports to the VP of Marketing. 


  • Developing email campaigns and workflows, including template design, messaging development, list creation, email setup, and performance tracking.
  • Think end-to-end across customer journey and sales funnel, and utilize segmentation, automation and customization, to create targeted and effective email nurture campaigns.
  • Manage our email calendar, manage and execute on cross-functional email requests and approvals.
  • Measure and analyze email and campaign performance metrics, develop routine reports and generate insights to continuously iterate and improve engagement and conversion.
  • Respond to marketing team, cross-functional, regional priorities and to create or expand campaigns in response to business growth and need.
  • Own email database maintenance and list creation. Manage delivery, deliverability and compliance with CAN-SPAM laws.
  • Collaborate with design and content teams to improve presentation of emails.
  • Proactively research and test new functionality, trends, and best practices around email


  • HubSpot: Marketing automation system and content management system
  • Salesforce: Customer relationship management system, lead monitoring, and reporting
  • Event triggered communications

Skill Set

  • 2 - 5 years of experience in email and marketing automation
  • Proven results in email marketing, marketing automation and database segmentation
  • Highly proficient in analyzing campaign performance, provide actionable insights, and driving continuous improvements to email performance
  • Fluency with template development, targeting, and personalization
  • Adept in navigating the sales and conversion funnel
  • Strong knowledge of best practices, strategies, and industry standards related to email
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced organization
  • Excellent project management, follow up, and organization skills
  • Experience with HTML/CSS preferred
