eLearning Course Designer

BetterLesson - Remote - Part time

This is a contract position. This contract will run for 6-months and require the development of 1 course per month, excluding month 1 for onboarding. This contract has a value of $6,850. Other monetized opportunities may become available.

We are seeking Contractors to help us design self-directed e-learning courses for teachers, instructional leaders, and school and district administrators for BL Connect, BetterLesson's new self-directed learning platform. BL Connect is a a curated library of research-backed content and self-directed courses that build awareness of student-centered teaching concepts and practices. We are looking for current or former educators with expertise in the areas below:

  • Early Elementary Math, Open Up Resources K-12/Illustrative Math K-12
  • Early Literacy, EL Education
  • Social-emotional Learning, Trauma-Informed Practices, Student Wellness
  • Technology, Blended Learning Structures, STEM
  • Teacher Induction, Early Career Teacher
  • Instructional Coaching

Here are some of the things you can expect to accomplish in this role:

  • You will apply your knowledge of adult learning principles and expertise in the above subject area(s) to design 1-hour e-Learning courses on a given topic/outcome using our design template and standards each month (excluding month 1 for onboarding). In designing the courses, you will be responsible for the course content, including but not limited to:
  • Recording engaging coach voice videos to include within each course.
  • Curating, sourcing, and/or creating relevant teacher artifacts to include within the course.
  • Make graphics to support the learner experience.
  • You will develop a storyboard for each e-Learning course on a provided topic and outcome within your area of expertise.
  • For each course, you will work with the Learning Design Team to review and refine your learning experiences.
  • You will monitor course discussions and answer questions in BL Connect to aid in building a social community.

About You

  • You’re passionate about and eager to grow in matters related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • You have teaching and/or school counseling experience in the K-12 space and a track record of success in creating student-centered learning environments and supporting other educators in improving their own instructional practice.
  • You consider yourself an expert in one or more of the subject areas mentioned above.
  • You’re skilled at designing self-directed professional learning experiences using tools such as Articulate or Blueprint.
  • You are aware of accessibility standards within eLearning.
  • You have experience developing engaging videos for educators using tools such as Loom.
  • You’re passionate and enthusiastic about improving education and creating engaging self-directed learning experiences for educators.
