About the Position

Digital Promise is hiring an Education Technology Program Manager that will serve as a learning engineer / evidence-based instructional designer to work with the Learner Variability Project (LVP). This person would support education technology organizations integrate research-based design around learning and learner diversity into edtech products. The Education Technology Program Manager will work closely with the Director of Education Technology and the Senior Director of LVP to support initiatives to integrate the science of how people learn and develop into education technology products and programs in more inclusive and equitable ways.

The LVP works with the world's top learning scientists and educators to distill the latest research on how learners vary and how these insights can be translated and distilled into meaningful practical applications for equitable learning.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with other edtech companies and organizations on how to integrate the science of how people learn into education technology products and programs in more inclusive and equitable ways
  • Design and implement professional development for product teams, such as through edtech accelerator partnerships and webinars
  • Provide expertise in instructional design to external product teams based on learning science, especially around learner variability and supporting learner diversity
  • Implement and improve project plans to track deliverables and milestones across grants and partnerships
  • Support execution and implementation of project activities and programming to engage researchers, educators, communities, and entrepreneurs, such as creating assets and agendas for sessions, revising and structuring activity protocols and facilitator materials, and curating resources
  • Work with funders to carry out grants as well as support recommendations to funders on investment strategy
  • Carry out and manage small grants to RFP applicants to develop learner variability supports in education products
  • Help manage the operation, relational, and programmatic elements of diverse external partnerships in education, technology, and research

Qualifications

  • Masters or PhD in education, psychology, instructional design, or related field preferred
  • Experience integrating the science of how diverse people learn and develop into educational products and programs (such as learning engineering, instructional design, applied research and consulting)
  • Understanding of education landscape and related systemic inequities
  • Understanding of instructional design and learning science/learner variability across topics such as stereotype threat, executive function, student identity, learning differences, trauma, sleep, etc; Particular expertise in motivation and engagement preferred.
  • Ability to build credibility, launch and manage partnerships with technology product developers
  • Experience implementing projects with some combination of researchers, educators, product teams, and organizations serving BIPOC students
  • Experience with project management across internal and external stakeholders; comfort with complex organizational structures
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage competing tasks, deadlines, requirements, and decisions
  • Comfort working in a virtual team environment and knowledge of best practices for virtual-first collaboration and knowledge management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience speaking and writing with a variety of external stakeholders and organizational leaders
  • A passion for education and equity, a team mentality, and a desire to learn and grow
  • Engage with teams to ensure a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens is applied throughout plans and activities

Working Conditions:

Digital Promise Global is a hybrid organization. Employees are expected to travel at least 4 times a year for in-person meetings and the annual staff retreat. Additional travel may be required based on role and responsibilities.

Compensation

The full-time salary range for the Education Technology Program Manager position is between $70,800- $106,200 with exact salary depending on experience and location.
