Gibbs Smith Education is an award-winning educational publisher in Utah that is passionate about history and social studies. We are seeking an Education Sales Manager to join our tight-knit, fun-loving team of history nerds with varied interests in superheroes, action figures, Legos, birthday lunches, and occasional exercise.

The Education Sales Manager is responsible for managing the independent sales representatives that visit schools and districts, assisting with sales in key districts, and managing the sales relationships directly for some targeted states. The ideal candidate has experience with K-12 educational sales strategy and execution and has a passion for bringing history to life for young learners.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Build and maintain relationships with sales representatives, understanding the key districts and personnel in their areas;  
  • Travel to and participate in key conferences and sales presentations;
  • Manage state, district, and school level adoptions;
  • Build and maintain direct relationships with key decisionmakers in schools and districts in targeted states without independent sales representation;
  • Work with marketing manager and sales reps to develop promotional strategies for each state;
  • Work with education team and marketing manager to create sales materials needed by the sales force in a timely manner within budget constraints;
  • Draft sales budgets consistent with company goals and working to achieve them;
  • Provide input and feedback to education team regarding product development;
  • Recognize and identify needs of market for innovative new products to build on existing customer base
  • Understand current trends in K-12 education to ensure we respond appropriately; and
  • Use tools and technology available to identify sales trends and opportunities.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years successful sales experience in K-12 education sales;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Technologically proficient (particularly Microsoft Office and CRM systems);
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and improvement;
  • Must enjoy a challenging work environment that requires significant flexibility, self-direction, and creativity;
  • Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail;
  • Strong work ethic with a penchant for thinking outside of the box;
  • Comfortable working effectively as part of a team as well as independently;

Four-year degree recommended.

This position is full-time with a complete benefits package and some travel required. The job is located in our Kaysville, Utah office and reports to the Education Publisher.
