We are seeking a motivated individual to join our analytics team, which focuses on providing high-quality analysis and visualization of quantitative outcomes and leading indicators, and on building online interactive tools to aid Public Impact’s implementation work with schools and districts. Role:

-Carry out statistical analyses to evaluate district-, school-, and student-level educational outcomes.

-Interpret diverse methodologies and data sources; manage own and others’ data-gathering for accuracy.

-Devise methodologies to address research questions and project goals in ways that are accurate, simple, and easy to communicate to a broad audience.

-Create visualizations that communicate quantitative data accurately and persuasively.

-Develop and improve processes and applications, leading users to monitor data and improve schools.

-Produce excellent technical work that positively impacts U.S. public education.

    Qualifications:

    -1-3 years of highly relevant experience (e.g., quantitative policy analysis/evaluation, economics, statistics, business analysis, or application development).

    -Advanced capability with Microsoft Excel for analysis (fluency in formulas for database operations; string and numerical manipulations; nested and conditional operations. Macros & Visual Basic a plus).

    -Advanced capability with Microsoft Excel for organizing and visualizing data, user interface design, and interactive dashboards.

    -Advanced capability with programming for data collection, management, analysis, and visualization (e.g., Tableau, R, SQL, Python, and Google Apps Scripts).

    -Knowledge of web technologies: HTML, CSS, Javascript.

    -Experience developing web applications using frameworks (e.g., Drupal, Django, Wordpress) a plus.

    -Demonstrated ability to both work independently and collaborate in teams with diverse members.

    -Demonstrated tenacity for solving complex problems and increasing operational and own efficiency.

    -Eager to give and receive feedback to produce outstanding work.

    -Able to communicate complex ideas simply. 

    -Creative, flexible thinker who enjoys learning new tools to develop smart ways to address tough, persistent problems.

    -Demonstrated commitment to social justice shown through volunteering or work a plus. 

     

    Location: Office in Chapel Hill, N.C., area with local work-from-home flexibility. Some travel nationwide.
