Job Purpose

Alef seeks an experienced Training and Development Manager to support in schools and with the company’s organizational training strategy for the North America market. The Training and Development Manager will identify training and professional developmental needs and drive suitable training initiatives that build loyalty to the company/product. The Manager will also oversee training programs and implementation and assess their outcomes. The ET Manager will feed information to product and content teams. as well as to school administration to improve instructional support for teaching and learning.

The Training and Development Manager will identify training and professional developmental needs and drive suitable training initiatives that build loyalty to the company/product.

Twenty percent of this role will also be to follow up with content development activities. A vendor will produce content to be used in schools. Content development activities, editorial and production, will need to followed up on to ensure content is delivered on time, with quality.

Job Specific Responsibilities

Instructional Support

  • Regular instructional and coaching support in classrooms across a number of schools, as needed and scheduled, in the New York area (travel outside New York may be required)
  • Capturing student feedback, classroom observations, student artifacts while in schools, and providing reports that inform improvements in curricular and instructional design and delivery
  • Identifying and assessing current and future teacher professional development needs
  • Designing an overall, group or individualized training/professional development plans where needed on the ground, based on school setting and parameters set
  • Deploying a wide variety of professional development methods (e.g. training, coaching, lesson study, etc.) that align with the Alef vision and evidence-based practices

Administration Support

  • Follow up with content teams to ensure content is delivered on time to schools
  • Follow up to ensure design partner requests are taken in on time by Alef headquarters and vendors.

Education, Experience and Required Skills

Educational Qualification

BS degree in education, human resources or relevant field

Experience

  • Identify and assess future and current training needs through on the ground analysis within schools and meetings with the wider Alef teams.
  • Draw an overall or individualized training and development plan that addresses needs and expectations for schools and the product.
  • Deploy a wide variety of training methods
  • Conduct effective product orientation sessions (early September)
  • Monitor and evaluate training program’s effectiveness and success report on them, by observing and supporting on the ground on a daily basis
  • Provide opportunities for ongoing development of the training program and the teachers/students involved
  • Resolve any specific problems and tailor training programs as necessary
  • Maintain a keen understanding of training trends, developments and best practices
  • Provide status reports on content progress
  • Ensure design partner requests are taken in on time by Alef headquarters and vendors.

Essential Skills

  • Background in education, training and/or educational leadership required.
  • Prior experience working in training or coaching: enhancing teacher skills, improving professional practice, supporting use of technology in the classroom or non-formal educational setting.
  • Proven work experience as a training manager
  • Track record in designing and executing successful training programs
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations etc)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Strong writing and record keeping ability for reports and training manuals
  • Good computer and database skills
