EdTech Product Manager

Hill Learning Center - Durham, North Carolina or Remote - Full time

Hill Learning Center is seeking an EdTech Product Manager to facilitate the evolution of the product vision for enhancing a web-based literacy intervention currently used with over 7,000 students across nine states. As a contractor, the EdTech Product Manager will report to the Director of Technology and Hill Learning System. The EdTech Product Manager will be responsible for product planning and execution that is focused on defining and delivering a fully asynchronous, web-based product, including integrated teacher training, support, and instructional app. Priority areas of focus include re-envisioning the web portal functionality and UX experience, enhancing data visualization and reporting, and positioning the solution for sale/strategic partnership. The initial duration of this contract position is six months, with the potential for extending the contract additional months.

The EdTech Product Manager is expected to:

  • Develop and execute the strategy and roadmap for a fully asynchronous web-based product
  • Deliver product requirements document (PRD) for fully asynchronous web-based product, through work with internal stakeholders and potential partners with prioritized features and corresponding justification
  • Lead development of MVP data dashboard, learning pathways, and classroom management interfaces
  • Work with content team to spec development and integration of asynchronous training, professional development, resources, and tools into the web-based application
  • Inform development of strategic partnerships and licensing opportunities grounded in product features, positioning, and market landscape
  • Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples
  • Be an expert with respect to the competition
  • Share UX learnings to inform re-vamp of Hill Learning Systems Portal for wrap around and other services
  • Understand Hill programs and team structures

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a EdTech Product Manager, ideally in an early-stage / SaaS startup.
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products, ideally in the education marketplace
  • UI/UX background and instructional design experience strongly preferred
  • Understanding of data visualization, database architecture, and the intersection of the two preferred
  • Technical background, with experience in software specifications and user stories
  • Superb problem-solver with strong analytic skills and ability to develop cost-effective solutions, prioritize effectively, and determine what is essential to success
  • Evidence of excellent teamwork and written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • A combination of hands-on experience and strategic thinking mindset, willing to roll up their sleeves and get things done
  • Ability to work East Coast hours essential
  • Examples and at least one sample of an effective document delivered in the past

Other Considerations:

  • Experience in the literacy / PreK-12 education space is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
  • Ability to work East Coast hours essential; based in Research Triangle area of NC preferred

This position will bring critical additional expertise, capacity, and focus as Hill evolves the HillRAP technology and training model to reach significantly more teachers and students, especially those who are furthest from opportunity.
