As Edgility continues to grow and expand our impact, we are seeking to add a Principal to our search team. This opportunity offers an entrepreneurial talent professional the chance to develop their own client base while receiving financial, infrastructure, and strategic support from Edgility’s staff and management team. Principals independently oversee all aspects of engagements including business development, client relationships, the full recruitment and selection cycle for searches, and the allocation and management of resources on a project basis.

The ideal candidate has experience in and a passion for social justice, a deep commitment to facilitating equitable and inclusive hiring processes, a proven track record of high-quality client service delivery, and a desire to leverage their project management and relationship building skills to help our clients create a more just and equitable world. As a virtual firm, all roles at Edgility are remote. For this position, being located on the West Coast (California, Nevada, Oregon, or Washington) is strongly preferred. Some travel to client sites, conferences/events, and staff retreats is required.


Key Responsibilities of the Principal include:

  • Business development and client services: Cultivate and maintain a portfolio of business aligned with the firm’s offerings and equity mission; leads, coaches & develops others to deepen their skills, boost motivation, morale, and productivity; leads strategy for client engagement and communication; facilitator to hiring managers, leadership teams, organizational stakeholders, boards of directors and search committees;
  • Serves as search and recruitment expert for clients: Provides expert guidance and support to clients in making key hiring and recruitment decisions; leads search process to ensure equity and inclusion for all candidates and organizational stakeholders; ensures that team utilizes effective recruitment practices to ensure a diverse and highly qualified candidate pool for every search; guides team in utilizing candidate cultivation strategies to ensure they are transparent and respectful of all individuals; works closely with hiring managers, committee leads and board chairs to ensure an efficient, successful and high-quality search process;
  • Organizational and external ambassador: Contributes to and leads efforts to encourage firm-wide culture-building and collaboration across teams; supports firm-wide strategic projects; serves as an external ambassador and thought leader for the practice to disseminate our insights and build our brand as an expert in the field;
  • Strong project management to support client engagement; Serves as project manager for all types of client engagements; organizes, plans, and manages resources to accomplish objectives across the team and client portfolio in a timely manner; ensures their team is utilizing recruitment systems and processes accurately and effectively; effectively assesses the scope of work required to meet clients’ needs and matches them with adequate resources;
  • Builds a highly effective team culture; Intentionally plans meetings to align with team goals, providing opportunities to reflect and learn; fosters a highly effective work culture by providing regular performance feedback and goal setting; creates organizational psychological safety, trust, and opportunities to leverage the skills of others;
  • Responsive strategic planning and budget management: Plans and designs tools, structures, and materials that yield impact; manages all resources to successfully achieve project objectives including a budget, people, and systems; supports team to meet or exceed revenue targets;


A successful first year in this role for the new Principal will include:

  • Leading highly successful client search and recruitment campaign engagements with limited supervision;
  • Supporting your team by serving as a coach, mentor, and champion of their efforts;
  • Collaborating with other recruitment leads and the founding partner lead of the search practice to support team-wide initiatives and process/systems improvements;
  • Starting to build an independent portfolio of client projects.


In order to fulfill these responsibilities, the ideal Principal candidate will be/have:

  • An accomplished leader with a minimum of 5-7 years of success in talent-centered roles, preferably with 3+ years in a recruitment and hiring related position and with experience in a senior leadership role;
  • Strong in strategic planning, leadership development and executive coaching with at least three years of experience in a senior leadership role;
  • Demonstrated success facilitating group conversations and complex interpersonal dynamics among a team of employees or volunteers;
  • A builder of authentic relationships and partnerships with Edgility staff, external social impact organizations and other supporters, able to engage with a variety of individuals and speaks in a clear and compelling manner about the firm’s goals and equity-driven values;
  • Experience leading large teams through decision-making and/or planning processes, knowledge of how to navigate complex inter-group dynamics and ability to effectively counsel and coach leaders at senior levels of management;
  • Strong project management, data analysis and analytical problem solving skills;
  • Demonstrated commitment to Edgility’s mission of empowering social impact organizations to act on equity by building exceptional teams that reflect and strengthen the communities they serve;
  • Culturally competent and a self-reflective leader who understands the effects of race, class, ethnicity, income, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, and other issues of difference in society and is able to lead direct conversations about them;
  • Experience serving on and/or working with a board of directors preferred.


This position offers a competitive salary of $130,000-140,000, a bonus opportunity of up to 10% of salary, a sales-based commission and robust benefits including medical, dental, retirement, and vision. More details can be provided upon request.
