Georgetown University’s Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS) seeks a Director of Digital Learning to lead a growing set of initiatives related to technology-enhanced teaching and learning, including the second phase of Georgetown’s Initiative on Technology-Enhanced Learning (http://itel.georgetown.edu). The person in this position will play a key role in Georgetown University’s new Master of Arts in Learning & Design program (http://learninganddesign.georgetown.edu), will manage a number of established projects and programs, and will pursue new opportunities for growing CNDLS’ portfolio of technology-enhanced learning initiatives with a diverse team of academic professionals. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Digital Learning will join the executive leadership team.
The Director of Digital Learning will oversee the unit responsible for Technology-Enhanced Learning at CNDLS, and will work closely with the Director of Faculty Initiatives, the Director of Learning Design and Research, the Managing Director, and the Executive Director to help guide CNDLS support of the University’s teaching and learning initiatives. The position entails leadership of several faculty-centered initiatives intended to explore the role of technology and innovation in learning, such as the Faculty Colloquium on Technology-Enhanced Learning and a suite of faculty-directed technology-enhanced learning projects. The Director will also envision, manage, and operationalize experimental, future-directed initiatives such as support for innovative classrooms and virtual technologies.
The Director of Digital Learning will be a key advocate for the understanding and judicious use of technology-enhanced learning across the university and should bring an established record of engagement in research, public scholarship, and large scale, inter-institutional initiatives to the position. The Director of Digital Learning should demonstrate creativity, ingenuity, and a keen interest in the latest developments in educational technology. The person in this position should also exhibit an engaged, empowering leadership style that promotes both personal initiative and effective collaboration across CNDLS’ cross-cutting teams. As a senior leader at CNDLS, the Director will also be expected to model positive and value-creating outreach to new constituencies on campus, reasoned advocacy of technology-enhanced learning, an unwavering service orientation, and a robust team-oriented approach to work.
The Director will have the possibility of teaching within Georgetown University’s new Master of Arts in Learning & Design—a new and innovative graduate program launching in fall 2017 and designed to help train students to become learning designers, instructional technologists, academic analytics professionals, and leaders in higher education.

●Master’s degree required, PhD preferred, and 7-10 years of related experience, including 5 plus years of teaching and leadership experience in a related field in higher education.
●established record of engagement in research, public scholarship, and large scale, inter-institutional initiatives
●deep familiarity with mandates and best practices for technology-enhanced learning
●technical facility with market-leading learning management systems (Canvas in particular), technology tools for learning, and workplace collaboration/communication tools
●experience with design thinking processes, including visual and strategic design
●familiarity with the cultures and needs of university environments
●proven record of positive, productive consulting interactions with faculty and students
●proven record of initiative, diplomacy, and excellent professional judgment
●demonstrated progressive managerial experience, both of programs and of people
●demonstrated ability to successfully design, deliver, launch, and maintain new initiatives
●demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex programs concurrently
●demonstrated success motivating, leading, and integrating teams
●ability to balance competing priorities with sound judgment
