Director, State and Federal Programs

As the Director, you will report to the Head of Curriculum and Instruction, be a part of the Curriculum & instructionDepartment and a district leader in San Francisco Unified School District. .We expect our Director will:Demonstrate a Leadership Mindset● Embrace the mission and vision of the district● Create opportunities for equitable access to teaching and learning● Articulate and understand student achievement data, especially of underserved student populations● Champion achievement proficiency for all studentsManage to Results● Develop a vision and set goals in collaboration with the team● Monitor progress of schools and departments on the appropriate use of state and federal funds● Set expectations for school sites in collaboration with Assistant Superintendents of Schools● Successfully prepare the district for state reports and auditsManage Teams● Oversee and evaluate a team consisting of 5-10 staff members● Plan and facilitate regularly scheduled team meetings● Provide leadership, support,and oversight for the District’s Access and Equity Program● Provide leadership, support,and oversight for the Private School Program● Oversee and monitor the implementation of programs,plans and activities associated with identifiedComprehensive Support and Improvement and Targeted Support and Improvement schools● Provide guidance and support for evaluating program effectiveness, required program monitoring, andcompliance with federal, state and local regulations● Lead team from a “results oriented” stanceManage Relationships● Work closely with school leaders and departments heads on supports for underserved populations● Manage and support aspects of categorical budget allocations related to LCFF, ESSA, ConsolidatedApplication Data, Highly Effective Teacher and Federal Program Monitoring● Communicate effectively with state and federal staff regarding use of allotted funds● Lead conversation across multiple community groups on services to students in K-12● Connect with leaders and families of Native American, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander and Migrant populationsThe strongest candidates will have:● Knowledge of State and Federal regulations for Title I, II, III, IV schools● Knowledge of Consolidated Application reporting to CDE● Knowledge of public and private schools funds allocated to such sites● Knowledge of LCAP and LCFF fundings● Knowledge of SPSAs and Various PACs● Knowledge of government grants and associated regulations● Knowledge of teaching and learning in K-12 urban schools● Knowledge of instructional programming, supplemental instructional materials and resources supporting EnglishLanguage Learners and Special Education students● Knowledge of San Francisco’s public schools/urban public schools and a passionate belief in SFUSD’s commitment to instructional leadership as a lever toward delivering on the SFUSD Graduate Profile● Ability to work with district leadership to implement educational action plans that are compliant with state & federal regulations as well as meeting student needs.● A strong record of managing organizational change and initiating key innovations● Strong analytic and systems thinking necessary to interpret data to inform goals and strategy, as well as build infrastructure where none exists● Ability to work effectively across multiple functions and roles within a complex organization● A proven record of effectively planning, organizing and using resources to take action and achieve goals● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with senior level district staff and colleagues● Success leading effective teams and individuals● Experience and success with effective written and verbal communication, facilitation and presentations to large groups and a variety of audiences (e.g., staff meetings, executive briefings, public board meetings, memos)● Ability to work effectively in difficult situations that involve confidential and sensitive matters● Strong computer skills including GSuite and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
