About the PositionDirector of Professional Learning will be primarily responsible for overseeing a region of Verizon Innovative Learning Schools and supporting the team within their representative region. The Director of Professional Learning is also responsible for building capacity in and supporting district and school based leaders and school-based instructional coaches in a subset of over 260 schools while helping teachers fully leverage the technology in and out of school. This is an exciting opportunity to play an integral role in a national initiative that leverages technology in support of teaching and learning.

RequirementsMission-Driven: Passionate about Verizon innovative Learning School's vision to transform teaching and learning. Experience in the ed-tech industry is a plus.

Professional Experience: Minimum 10 - 12 years in education in roles of increasing responsibility leading teams. Proven ability to meet and exceed aggressive goals. Demonstrated innovative and strategic leader with strong analytical skills.

Leadership: Exceptional leadership skills with proven track record of being a solution-oriented, positive and growth minded leader. Strong work ethic driven by a sense of urgency and ability to inspire others to act and fulfill Digital Promise’s mission.

Knowledge & Skills: Experienced and demonstrated knowledge of partner/client management. Candidate must be highly organized, able to prioritize and be driven by a strong work ethic and a sense of urgency.

Education: Advanced Degree preferred in education leadership, educational technology, or related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in all Google Suite tools, Slack, Salesforce, and Asana as well as presentation design (Google Slides or PowerPoint), Google Sheets, Social Media, etc.

Flexibility: Once safely permitted, candidate must be willing to travel 20-30% of the time to meet with partners, school leaders, or internal meetings.

Communication Skills: Excellent writer and oral communication skills appropriate for C-Suite level as well as impeccable interpersonal skills.

Collaborative: Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.

Hustle: The courage and confidence to work hard and with passion; committed to getting the job done; sustain effort in the face of adversity. Maintain consistency and focus over time with a positive “never give up” attitude.

Management: Support, and coach team members to ensure program, team and individual success. Have line of sight and clear understanding of program implementation status in schools under your purview. Direct overall development and execution of assigned program deliverables. Plan and prioritize program deliverables in conjunction with broader Verizon Innovative Learning Schools team.

ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership, Program Management, School District Relations, and Knowledge of Professional Learning Design

  • Coordinate with Deputy Director to implement all aspects of the initiative
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for at least 1 school district in their region
  • Manage regional professional learning team of three serving 80+ schools in various stages of the program
  • Work collaboratively with school leadership teams to create a vision and strategic plan for professional development in a school, aligned to both Verizon Innovative Learning outcomes and school goals, leveraging technology and always available access.
  • Coordinate with cross initiative teams to ensure the region metrics, district and school-level reports are current, IT elements are functioning optimally, Participation in Coach and Leader courses for school leads is on track.
  • Track key performance indicators and metrics that measure progress towards the achievement of initiative goals. Provide vital insights and reporting across the program for Verizon, Digital Promise, school leadership, and others.
  • Conduct approximately up to 2 on-site visits each year for each school in portfolio
  • Other duties as assigned
