Heggerty is seeking a Director of Technology to oversee technology strategy and operations for customer-facing digital products and internal business systems. This role will work across departments to identify solutions to complex problems, lead vendor teams in developing and implementing solutions, and ensure all software created and used by Heggerty supports organizational objectives and scales for the future.

Responsibilities
The Director of Technology’s responsibilities include:
Technology Strategy
- In partnership with Product, Curriculum, Operations, Marketing, Sales, and HR leadership, developing a technology strategy and roadmap that supports organizational objectives and scales for the future.
- Working across business units to identify current pain points related to the technologies in use and providing strategic input for scaling technical systems to best support business growth.
- Researching options, proposing viable solutions, and providing architectural guidance for complex initiatives, taking into account system-wide impact for Heggerty.
- Overseeing vendor partners tasked with building and maintaining software that supports the purchase, delivery, and use of Heggerty products, including:
- eCommerce site
- Marketing website
- User-facing digital product site
- Access and user management systems
- Billing and order fulfillment systems
- Working with external vendors to integrate new systems while ensuring appropriate compatibility with existing systems.
- Ensuring quality, reliability, sustainability, and scalability of technology solutions by ensuring they align to a long-term strategy and follow development best practices.
- Collaborating with Heggerty leadership to present, discuss, and refine solutions and plans for implementation.
- Providing guidance and recommendations to leadership on feasibility, cost, and effort for new projects.
- Responding to technical questionnaires from states, schools, and districts.
IT Oversight
- Overseeing IT operations and team members, whose responsibilities include managing employee hardware, software, and access to business systems.
- Overseeing internal systems and tools (Salesforce, Slack, Google, etc.)
- Developing and owning IT, security, and data policies and procedures for the organization.
- Collaborating with department heads to identify and implement out-of-the-box software solutions that meet organizational and department-specific needs.
Requirements
- Curiosity, empathy, and a passion for our mission
- Minimum 8-10 years leading software development teams and IT operations
- Experience building software for B2C and B2B educational products
- A player-coach mentality, and willingness to wear multiple hats in a growing organization
