Director of SpringBoard Math Content Development

College Board, the national educational organization, is conducting a search for a Senior Director, Math Content Development for our SpringBoard program. This position is remote or based in our New York office.

Position Summary

The Senior Director, Math Content Development leads, SpringBoard Math content development and is responsible for determining an overall content strategy as well as managing content research, development, and editorial activities for the print and interactive digital components of the SpringBoard Math program. SpringBoard Math is a high-growth program offering with core instructional materials, assessments, and ancillaries for the middle-school grades, as well as for high school courses that follow both the traditional and integrated pathways.

Primary Responsibilities

Collaborate with Product and Content leads on the instructional design and content development strategy for a grade 6-12, digital-first mathematics program

Implement editorial and design guidelines and processes that ensure content quality

Liaise with development houses, content partners, and production vendors

Supervise the content and editorial work conducted by content authors and external vendors

Maintain and apply up-to-date knowledge of competitive products and relevant technologies

Approach content design and development with an understanding of customer needs

Support communication about products in sales trainings, professional learning trainings, and marketing materials to ensure effective promotion of the math products

Produce alignments and correlations of content to College Board programs such as Pre-AP, AP, and SAT, as well as to state and national standards.

Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications

B.A. or B.S. degree is required and a Master’s in Education or Mathematics is strongly preferred. A minimum of 7 years of related math content experience, including progressively responsible print and digital product development for the K–12 educational market is required. Project management and supervisory experience required. Experience using external vendors, editors, writers, and instructional designers is required. Secondary-level teaching experience is a plus.

Willingness and ability to travel 20% or more.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge

Comprehensive knowledge of SpringBoard and/or other College Board programs—especially AP.

Thorough knowledge of the K–12 landscape, including both print and digital products and tools.

Leadership

Ability to engage, motivate, and lead a content development team.

Ability to manage multiple complex projects to successful completion.

Ability to create and manage schedules to meet critical deadlines.

Analytical Thinking

Analytic ability to gather and synthesize data and market intelligence.

Excellent data interpretation skills.

Financial acumen and budgetary experience.

Communication

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to educators and other constituents at various levels.

Strong customer-service orientation with ability to listen to, synthesize customer needs and recommend a product response.

Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing customer needs and project requirements.

Technological

Strong technical skills, including Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and WIRIS/MathType.

Experience with Agile development methodology and digital content workflows.

Ability to learn and innovate.
