THEOPPORTUNITY

Asa Director of School Support (DSS), your coaching of school andsystem leaders will empower them to enact change that sets teachersup for success in the classroom, thus ensuring students receive theeducational opportunities they deserve. You will leverage your pastexperience as an instructional leader to quickly build trust withinyour partner schools, identify strengths and opportunities, anddevelop action plans that lead to breakthrough results for kids.You'll be successful in influencing and motivating our partnersbecause you thrive at marrying humility and assertiveness ineverything you do. Your flexibility, team first approach, andcommitment to equity will be infectious to everyone you interactwith, whether it's a CAO of a school system, a principal of one ofyour partner schools, or another DSS on your team.

Reporting toa regional Executive Director, New England Network,this DSS willsupport approximately 12 district and/or charter schools inMassachusetts. This DSS will also work in a highly collaborative,supportive, andinnovative fashion with peer coaches across the NortheastRegion, which currently supports over 125 schools, predominantly inMassachusetts, with a growing presence in Connecticut, Rhode Islandand Upstate New York, as well as with ANet's other Regions and national teams.

WHATYOU'LL DO

Partner with and coach school leaders to strengthen instruction andincrease student achievement

Serve as aleadership coach for school leaders, partnering with them todetermine instructional priorities and to overcome barriers tosuccessful data-driven instruction and increased studentachievement, including how to develop and leverage school- and/orsystem-wide practices and structures to build a culture ofachievement that accelerates student impact

Developschool leaders and teachers on effective use of real-time data fromthe ANet interim assessments to target student misunderstandings,to improve teacher practice, and to continually deepenunderstanding of the rigor of the Common Core standards

Train andcoach school leaders and teachers on effective backwards planningusing state standards, complex texts, and curricula to achievestudent mastery of grade-level content

Analyzestudent data and use research-based practices to inform anindividualized strategy for coaching each school

Engage in agradual release of support to build some schools' independence withteacher development, first by modeling meeting facilitation, thenobserving and providing coaching and feedback to leaders on theirfacilitation

Develop a strong network of ANet schools

Connectschool leaders with other schools to facilitate best practicesharing

Design andlead professional development sessions for groups of school leadersand teachers

Support theregional leadership in growing the Network by sustaining currentschool partners and fostering new partnerships

Support internal ANet strength and growth

Developtools, coaching strategies, and innovative ideas for theorganization that improve our ability to coach schools

Serve ininternal ANet leadership roles, which could include recruiting andhiring, network event coordination, sales, professional developmentplanning and facilitation, and strategy development

In order tobe successful in this role, candidates must demonstratethe following:

You bring prior experience managing or coaching other adults(e.g. schoolleadership, instructional coaching, etc.) and know how to developand motivate others to drive results, while balancing humility andassertiveness. Youthrive off building strong relationships, especially when it comesto building trust and credibility quickly.

You are a learner. You don't shyaway from new or ambiguous situations, but rather dive right in andseek out opportunities to continuously improve your skills andexpand your impact on kids, while learning from those aroundyou.

You draw others in. Your abilityto read and respond to unspoken and implicit cues, and yourengaging presentation skills leave others energized and wanting toknow more.

You are excited to partner with schools and systems across theNortheast Region and within your portfolio and aretherefore willing to travel and have access to a vehicle in orderto do so (mileage will be reimbursed for drives to partners and arental car or flight will be provided for longer trips).

Ideal candidates may also demonstrate the following

preferred qualifications:

You have prior experience as a school leader, coaching teams,leading professional development, and/or managing programs at adistrict/CMO-level and bring an openness to learn about and navigate schoolsystems

You have comfort working across various grade levels (elementary,middle, and high school) implementing the Common Core instructionalshifts
