NTC is seeking a Director, School Leadership to work closely with our Senior Director(s), School Leadership and colleagues to continue building, refining, and implementing a comprehensive school leadership development program. Working together with a cross functional team from program, product, impact, and technology, the Director will be a key team member for operationalizing our new program model, including refining and delivering a series of products and services to our clients, field testing our new model with a select network of district partners, and scaling our program to districts across the country.

The Director will also work closely with our Senior Directors and our district and network partners to manage scopes of work that will result in direct professional learning (face-to-face and online) for principals and other school leaders, leveraging and aligning the work of school leaders and teacher leaders to maximize school based efforts to implement strong teacher development systems and distributed leadership models, and providing support for ongoing consultation, technical assistance, and capacity building to district leaders in order to ensure program sustainability. Additionally, the Director will conduct ongoing analysis of our program services and products as they are implemented in the field and will make recommendations and support revisions as needed.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

In addition to the description above, the following is an overview of other duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. The employee may perform other duties as required.

  • Work closely with the design team to create high quality products and experiences that allow for deep and impactful learning experiences for school leaders (and other district leaders)
  • Work in partnership with client lead for several partnerships to provide exceptional service, maximize our impact, and deliver on expected outcomes
  • Understand and analyze district conditions/dynamics/priorities in order to be proactive in identifying potential assets to NTC program implementation, as well as anticipating potential obstacles to program success
  • Facilitate learning opportunities for school leaders, teacher leaders, and other district leaders in a variety of settings and contexts (face-to-face, online, network forums, in-field consultation, coaching, etc)
  • Utilize technology solutions that enhance learning opportunities for our clients and lead to more effective and impactful ways to support teacher development, school transformation, and systems change
  • Assist with the execution of an impact model and work closely with our impact team and clients to monitor and analyze data to track implementation and impact
  • Develop professional conference and/or symposium proposals and conduct presentations to increase NTC's School Leadership visibility
  • Remain current with professional readings, research and networks
  • Represent NTC at external convenings related to school leadership
  • Participate in NTC staff meetings, work teams, symposium, and other collaborative opportunities
  • Contribute to the design of professional development products and services for NTC


A graduate degree in education

5 - 8 years teaching and/or school leadership experience preferred

Proven results of transformational leadership at the school, district, or network level, including a track record of success driving student achievement and strong teacher development in an urban, high needs school as a principal, mentor, coach or other leadership role

Successful experience designing and leading powerful learning opportunities for school and teacher leaders

Demonstrated success in developing teachers or school leaders to meet the academic and social/emotional needs of racially and economically diverse students

Strong expertise in standards-based teaching and learning, including the social and emotional learning needs of adults and students

Knowledge of and comfortability with innovative technology solutions that lead to stronger teacher and school leader development

Demonstrated success cultivating and expanding professional relationships with high-level school district officials, including superintendents, assistant superintendents, and chief academic officers

Experience managing complex programs involving multiple participants

High degree of productivity in a flexible, team oriented work environment where a high level of initiative, creativity, and accountability is expected

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

Superb management and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with principals, teachers, district leaders, and NTC team and partners

Ability to develop and write professional publications, training materials, grants and reports

Ability to collaborate with NTC staff to assess and improve client services using innovative and effective approaches

Willingness to travel up to 75% based on location/client or project assignments

ADA Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Work performed in the field with clients in school/district settings; non field-based work performed in a home office or NTC site
  • Physical effort required for travel and in-field services, including setting up/tearing down for professional development sessions and other meetings
  • May have substantial national travel based on office location/client assignments
  • Requires a valid driver’s license
  • Driving, grasping, hearing, repetitive hand motions, lifting under 50 pounds, pulling, pushing, reaching, sitting, talking, typing
