ABOUT SWING:

On average, U.S. students are with substitute teachers for 5% of the typical school year. That means our students have substitute teachers for more than six months of their K-12 school career. The problem? We're suffering from a national shortage of substitute teachers.

Swing Education is a tech startup based out of San Mateo, CA focused on tackling the substitute teacher shortage. We make it easy for great schools and quality subs to find each other. We help schools access more subs and offload tedious work (recruiting, screening, payroll, etc.) and we help subs find jobs, gain experience and build their professional network.

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Director of Sales is responsible for growing revenue from new schools in all our existing territories and will lead expansion into new territories. You will manage and build Swing Education’s national sales team and be Swing’s revenue driver for new schools. The Director of Sales will also help shape Swing’s approach and culture on schools-facing teams by using your experience in K-12 sales and on the frontlines to help inform the strategic direction of Swing’s products and services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and manage high performing national sales team to hit revenue targets and perform on key metrics like win rate and velocity
  • Design and implement strategic sales plan to reach revenue targets; develop weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales objectives
  • Manage weekly sales pipeline review and other important sales metrics like win rate and velocity
  • Meet revenue targets in existing regions, and lead expansion into new regions
  • Build scalable process improvements in sales process to optimize ROI of sales efforts
  • Develop sales strategies based on a deep understanding of the needs of current and prospective customers and how our product and offerings can meet those needs
  • Forecast new sales revenue and track effectiveness of sales activities; propose and implement data-driven improvements to these activities
  • Develop a solid understanding of the political and market issues that may impact schools and districts nationwide to build strategy to meet customer and business needs
  • Partner with product team on development and improvement of Swing Education’s products and services
  • Be a strong partner for Marketing on lead generation efforts
  • Ensure smooth transition and collaboration with Customer Success; help build upon the post-sale client relationship by learning the client’s goals, needs, and initiatives and by providing value in all interactions
