Director of Professional Development Library

The Director of the Professional Development Library creates, curates and edits professional development materials related to Summit Learning for use by teachers, school leaders and district administrators within Summit Public Schools and through the national Summit Learning Program. These materials often serve as the basis for site- and district-based professional development opportunities and are created based on the development arc of Summit Learning educators. The Director of the Professional Development Library works closely with the Senior Director of Professional Development, Professional Development Content Specialists, and the Program Directors of each of Summit’s Professional Development experiences.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple projects and coordinate among many stakeholders
  • Stay abreast of research and trends involving professional development and Summit Learning
  • Serve as a collaborative team member, moving forward with projects that are responsive to observed development needs of various stakeholders across the Summit Learning Program.
  • Effectively cultivate, develop, and manage external partnerships related to PD.
  • Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of PD resources and materials that align to our academic model and our core values.
  • Develop, design, and conduct professional development for educators, funders, and designers.
  • Represent Summit and the team compellingly in leadership capacity internally and externally.
  • Regularly conduct appropriate needs assessments, and build consensus for actionable solutions to demonstrated needs.
  • Effectively monitor progress of team, projects, and quality curriculum and assessment products.
  • Develop, design, and conduct professional development for teachers, mentors, and school leaders, including at regional trainings and summer professional development programs.
  • Be a positive and knowledgeable representative of Summit Public Schools and the Professional Development team

  • Meet health clearance, and pass the reference, background/criminal checks, per education code.
  • Credible experience with systems-level curriculum and assessment programs
  • Master’s degree in education, teaching, learning design, and/or curriculum.
  • Project management experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to travel to various school and organization sites in the San Francisco bay area, Seattle-Tacoma region and to Summit Learning Program schools across the country.
