About the Position

Digital Promise Global’s Learner Positioning Systems™ (LPS) seeks a Director of Product who has deep understanding of product development, APIs and software integration, data interoperability, user data privacy and management, and product partnerships. Daily, our world’s bright, capable, and eager learners use products and programs that fail to meet the full diversity of learners where they are. These products are often designed for the mythical “average” learner, and they have insufficient supports for varying learner needs. You have the opportunity to be the first Director of Product on our team and to build a system that will usher in a new generation of learning products and programs that will truly help make learning personal for all.

LPS is a bold, large scale initiative focused on leveraging the latest in deep learning science to systemically improve the precision and accuracy of personalization in order to support the full diversity of learners. The team has developed an initial alpha of the first LPS concept and is now building a team to scale and drive impact so that more products, programs and practices are based on research and support all learners. This role works directly with the CEO and Executive Director of LPS.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the LPS team through development and release of beta and full-release for the core LPS web app and derivative applications.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop product roadmaps, goals, KPI, internal and external communications, and scope and prioritize product updates based on our mission-critical activities.
  • Develop and oversee strategies for managing user feedback, UX Research and Testing, and experimentation and data analysis for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and institute measurement and evaluation plan to improve user satisfaction, user value, and competitive advantage.
  • Implement strategies to successfully manage user data, protect user privacy, and promote transparency with key stakeholders.
  • Apply data to drive user growth, adoption, and retention.
  • Manage an infrastructure fund for learning products that leverage data interoperability and data-driven, research based learner profiles.
  • Challenge the product’s guiding assumptions to ensure the right paths for progress.
  • Inspire the organization with your vision for the product and impact it can have.

Experience and Qualifications

The preferred candidate will have:

  • 7+ years managing software and web-based products with expertise in information architecture, APIs, and data interoperability
  • 3+ years experience with product team hiring and managing product teams.
  • Life cycle management from conception through continuous improvement
  • Thorough understanding of analytics, user feedback management, user experience research, and user testing strategies
  • Experience managing accessibility standards and applying human-centered design (HCD) and inclusive design principles
  • Experience designing complex user interaction models
  • Comfort with ambiguity and open ended challenges
  • Demonstrable experience managing relationships with partners, vendors, contractors, and stakeholders of all levels
  • Exceptional ability to communicate with organization leadership, funders, researchers, and education stakeholders at all levels
  • Familiarity with trends and best practices for product design and practices in the education and learning space
  • Experience in Ed-tech, education, BI / data visualization tools, and machine learning a plus
  • Education - Minimum BA/BS in business, computer science, HCI, education or related field; MA, MS, MBA, or Ph.D preferred.
