OpenMind is a non-profit organization that works to address these issues by translating the latest behavioral science research into educational tools that are practical, scalable, and evidence-based in order to equip people with the mindset and skillset to bridge divides. Our educational tools are built primarily for use in higher education and high schools, but they are also used in workplaces and community organizations.

OpenMind was co-founded by psychologist Jonathan Haidt, the bestselling author of The Righteous Mind and The Coddling of the American Mind. Since launching in 2017, our program has been used by 50,000 learners in more than 1,000 classrooms and 150+ organizations and companies across more than 30 countries.

OpenMind is at an exciting stage in our organizational growth. We just completed a 3-year strategic plan where we established ambitious goals to: (1) Develop a suite of educator- and student-facing tools to promote pluralism, intellectual humility, and constructive dialogue in schools and universities, (2) Scale these tools to reach a million students annually within the next four years, and (3) Execute a thought leadership agenda to establish the importance of intellectual humility and constructive dialogue to educational and civic outcomes.

About the role

OpenMind is looking for an entrepreneurial relationship-builder to create a portfolio of high school, college, network, association, and distribution partners to bring our tools to more than 1 million students annually by 2025. In addition, you will lead our revenue-generating sales to workplaces that seek to create more inclusive and open cultures.

The Director of Partnerships will have demonstrated experience developing and growing strategic partnerships. This person must be organized, entrepreneurial, and love building authentic relationships. We know that not every candidate will have experience working across K-12, higher ed, and adult learner communities, but you should have experience engaging multiple kinds of partners and understanding their unique motivations and approaches to collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Support a portfolio of diverse partners across the K-12 and higher ed sectors by building authentic relationships, setting concrete shared measures of success, managing the details of each collaboration, and following through on our promises
  • Set a strategy for partnerships across the organization and coordinate the efforts of all team members who engage with our partners, including how we set relationship goals, track progress, and share information
  • Field inbound inquiries from teachers, schools and colleges, partners, and earned revenue clients, and guide them through the sign-up process and/or sales cycle
  • Expand OpenMind’s network by identifying and connecting to prospective partners who can help us expand our reach and impact in high schools and colleges across the US
  • Represent OpenMind at conferences, events, and other venues (both virtual and in-person) at various times throughout the year

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional experience, including 3 years of demonstrated success at developing and expanding complex, strategic partnerships
  • Experience with K-12 and/or higher ed markets; familiarity with EdTech is a plus
  • Ability to effectively navigate large, complex systems and organizations
  • Experience with CRM; HubSpot is a plus
