The Director of Partnership Development is responsible for nurturing and building new relationships with K-12 school districts and other partners. The position reports to the Chief Strategy and Operations Officer, and is a full-time position with benefits. Ideally the candidate will work out of BIE headquarters in Novato, CA but a remote location may be considered, depending on the qualifications of the candidate. Travel for this position will be extensive, sometimes more than 50%.
Deliver six or more substantial contracts for new school district relationships and four or more new institute partnerships annually, ensuring that each new relationship is in synch with BIE’s strategic plans, direction, and capacities.
Be strategic about development of new relationships. Be able to assess implementation capabilities, develop and maintain excellent collaborative relationships with district leadership and capacity building teams in the district.
Develop strong consultative relationships with district decision-makers. Work with potential partners to understand their needs and processes.
Represent BIE and Project-based learning with knowledge and expertise. From amongst the array of BIE products and services, help to design robust and effective strategies and programs that address customer needs and issues.
Be agile at navigating district procurement and decision-making processes, and understanding funding sources.
Negotiate and finalize service contracts. Monitor and report on sales metrics (e.g. quarterly sales results and annual forecasts).
Communicate effectively with the program teams and the operations team to seamlessly bring in new partners and insure that they have a successful experience.
Develop and maintain leads and deeply understand Salesforce.com. Set and track sales account targets.
Be able to read the market, recognize trends, and adjust prospecting to match opportunities.

Qualifications and Abilities
Five or more years of consistent sales success in K-12 districts and schools. Sales management experience is a plus.
Skilled negotiator with a win/win approach. Seasoned ability to negotiate and discuss contract terms.
Able to present to and facilitate large groups with ease and aplomb.
Superb communication skills.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Organized, detail-oriented, careful, cool under pressure and deadlines. Great at follow-up.
Growth-oriented and reflective.
Self-starter, able to work without close supervision.
Knowledge of Project-Based Learning, preferably gained though first-hand experience.
Ability to empathize and see others’ points of view.
Both an evangelist and a listener.
Competent with Word, Excel, Google Apps, and deep experience using Salesforce.
