Director of Online Learning

LIM College – Where Business Meets Fashion is currently seeking candidates for the position of Director of Online Learning. POSITION PURPOSE

Oversees the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of online courses and programs. Develops and implements policies, procedures and guidelines for Online Learning programs. Works with faculty and staff to promote online education, develops online courses in conjunction with academic departments, and provides support to students and faculty.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

•Coordinates and implements complex instructional design projects from inception to completion on time and at the high standards required for online courses

•Collaborates with the Provost, Online Advising, as well as Enrollment and Marketing to identify emerging trends and conduct needs analyses that offer opportunities for new programming and service

•Oversees faculty development related to online teaching and learning, including certification when appropriate

 •Collaborates with Full-Time Online Faculty to identify new opportunities to enhance existing courses, promote faculty excellence, and provide support for new and existing online adjunct faculty

•Designs, develops, and delivers training to faculty and staff in the use of instructional technologies and educational best practices, instructional resources, instructional technologies and multimedia hardware/software to support teaching and learning

•Supports faculty during the online semester to ensure that teaching standards are being met and that students are receiving a quality online learning experience

•Acts as the primary liaison for online learning working with various offices across the College including Academic Departments, Office of the Registrar, Student Financial Services, and Career and Internship Services to assure smooth operations

•Oversees and coordinates the Office of Online Learning Faculty Liaisons

•Collaborates with academic departments to identify and provide quality online education opportunities 

•Facilitates collaboration between online students and faculty support services

•Manages the course preparation process throughout the course lifecycle, ensuring that courses and faculty are ready at the start of every online semester

•Collaborates with the CTO on instructional technology projects, budgeting, strategic planning and co-leads Instructional Technology Task Force

•Oversees all aspects of Instructional Design

•Is innovative, creative, and has a passion for our work in supporting faculty and students

•Works in a team environment and manages multiple projects simultaneously with on-time deliverables

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

Master’s degree required, preferably in higher education. Familiarity with curriculum development required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

A thorough understanding of the various theories on student development/learning, pedagogy, curricular design, and innovative approaches to teaching. 

Strategies for organizational development, program consultation, group and team building, and the influence of environmental factors on teaching and learning. 

Learning and program assessment strategies.

Knowledge of use, implementation and best practices for instructional technologies. 

Demonstrable appreciation and advocacy for diversity of learning styles.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Three to five years’ progressive experience in an academic environment, preferably in a leadership role

Excellent communication and technological skills.Demonstrated history of initiative.Good interpersonal and public relations skills.Superior analytical, creative, and problem-solving abilities.Project management and organizational skills.Able to work well in a team environment.
