Director of Marketing

ReadWorks - Remote - Full time

The Role

ReadWorks is seeking a full-time Director of Marketing and Engagement to oversee the strategic vision for marketing, communications, and user engagement. We are looking for someone to lead our marketing and communications initiatives, including:

Collaborating with our Teaching, Learning, and Content (TLC), Technology, Development, and Leadership teams to create and circulate effective communications to improve teacher effectiveness and to grow the ReadWorks community 

Telling the story of ReadWorks’ past success, future plans, purpose, and unique value to teachers, education administrators, funders, parents, and more


Strategic vision for growth marketing and communications: Oversee the strategic vision for marketing and communications, working with colleagues and leadership to determine the milestones and execute the activities that support the vision

Product marketing and user growth: Help ReadWorks achieve ambitious goals for user growth, significant improvements to user engagement, retention, and inform continuous enhancements to product usability and program efficacy

Data-driven campaign development: Create, implement, and measure the success of comprehensive multi-channel digital marketing campaigns that will enhance the image and position within the marketplace and the education space, including a focus on SEO

Brand/message development: Develop cohesive messaging, content, and online/print collateral that will be used to communicate ReadWorks’ products and guidance to both our core user base and supporters

Collateral development: Lead development of digital and online collateral that supports new user and donor acquisition

Public and media relations: Create a plan for public, user, and social media relations that establishes ReadWorks as a thought leader in the edtech space

Storytelling: Generate educator experiences and organizational impact into effective and exciting narratives for a variety of audiences


Proven experience (at least 3-4 years) in developing a solid marketing test plan, ensuring the test/s can be executed, measured, analyzed, and interpreted to further the strategic initiatives of the organization 

Knowledge and skills to create, develop, and implement long and short-term communications plans and manage projects

Strong written communication and organizational skills 

Commitment to and passion for educational equity and organizational impact 

Understanding of the edtech, education, and/or non-profit sectors 

Experience with successful paid, social, email marketing initiatives, and Google Ads 

Ability to foster new partnerships for organic and paid social media marketing 

Experience with planning, implementing, and managing SEO strategy 

Previous management experience preferred


Salary range: $90,000 - $125,000 (depending on experience) Benefits: ReadWorks offers a comprehensive healthcare plan, generous PTO, and benefits package

This is a full-time position reporting to the Executive Director and will be a member of the Leadership Team.
