Games for Change - New York or Remote - Full time

Position Summary

Games for Change (G4C) seeks an outstanding Director/Sr. Director of Learning to work with G4C’s Chief Learning Officer to build out the G4C Learning brand by supporting the design and implementation of existing and new learning programs.The Director/Sr. Director of Learning will also support the development of new curriculum for use in programs and professional learning experiences for teachers and professionals. In addition, the Director/Sr. Director of Learning will oversee the design and implementation of programs and initiatives as needed. They will work closely with program directors, managers, production staff and the Chief Learning Officer to ensure excellent learning programming. The Director/Sr. Director of Learning will be a passionate leader, eager to collaborate and contribute to a creative team, with strong organization and project management skills. The position is full time and while G4C is headquartered in NYC, this role can be done remotely.

Position Detail:

The Director/Sr. Director of Learning will perform the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Support the development and manage learning programs and initiatives such as Raising Good Gamers;
  • Develop curriculum for ongoing G4C programming including the G4C Student Challenge
  • Integrate learning games and game design processes into third-party curricula, including supports for teachers;
  • Lead the development and facilitation of professional development experiences for teachers and professionals.
  • Lead the development and facilitation of student facing programs.
  • Represent organization as a thought leader at speaking engagements
  • Support program directors and managers by communicating best educational practices
  • Model best professional practices in school leadership and professional development for participants in workshops
  • Manage and mentor other staff, facilitators and interns, as needed
  • Support G4C programming such as the G4C festival as needed
  • Represent the organization at events and convenings

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and dispositions:

  • At least 5+ years of classroom teaching experience, or equivalent;
  • knowledge of Socio-Emotional, Next Generation Science Standards, Common Core, and 21st Century Learning standards;
  • a design/maker orientation;
  • experience observing best teaching practices and giving constructive feedback around that practice;
  • a positive attitude with strong collaboration skills;
  • excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and interpersonal;
  • strong networking skills;
  • able to research and synthesize information quickly;
  • detail-oriented and able to manage a set of projects;
  • be flexible, independent and willing to pitch-in where needed;
  • cultural competence and life-long learner;
  • belief in the value of games and play (not necessarily a “gamer”);
  • belief in the meaningful integration of technology
  • interest in working in a design-based environment with a focus on young people;
  • experience managing other people;
  • experience with educational innovation;
  • ability/willingness to travel
  • experience leading professional development for teachers; and
  • Is flexible, independent and willing to pitch-in where needed.
