ABOUT THE POSITION

As the demand for our content and courses grows in the market, we are looking for a Director of Instructional Design to join our team who can help take our instructional design methodology to the next level while also harnessing the potential collaborations underway with external partners across the market who are aligned with our vision for the Future of Learning.

Responsibilities:

Lead interdisciplinary team of both internal and external stakeholders to design highly engaging adult learning experiences: Develop learning objectives, map content, define activity types, and create performance assessment, Anchor all of the work to adult learning competencies scaffolded along a progression

Project manage all aspects of content and course creation; deliver against timeline and budget expectations

Review and evaluate a course design's effectiveness at improving learning outcomes prior to or following its release; this may range from informal review to facilitating multi-party design studios of internal team, external partners and lead practitioners as a critical feedback loop

Design and oversee rigorous evaluation through learner testing

Maintain strong relationships with partners to address current needs and anticipate future objectives

Manage a growing Instructional Design team, including core team members, consultants and advisors

Stay informed of instructional design trends, especially in adult learning, and apply innovative, creative, and relevant design principles to grow a consistent and high quality portfolio of offerings

Education and Experience:

M.A. preferably in education, instructional design, adult learning, or other related field10+ years of experience in course design, curriculum design, or related in adult learning environments

Knowledgeable about learning theory with experience in the application of a learning theory- especially constructivist, connectivist, humanist, and application of human centered design in learning context

Demonstrated experience delivering feedback and ideas specifically related to design quality and best practices to members of development and production teams

Ability to write clear instructions and interesting narratives

Ability to estimate and predict project time accurately for scoping projects

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and virtually with subject matter experts, editors, and stakeholders

Strong project management skills, especially time management, tracking/reporting, and communication, with the ability to identify risks to projects and recommend solutions

Keen attention to detail when conducting final reviews of deliverables and conducting quality assurance reviews

Ability to balance a drive for quality and excellence with the given constraints of a project

Demonstrated commitment to customer service and learner-centered design

Strong software and technology skill and aptitude

Intermediate to advanced-level skill in Microsoft Office applications (especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

Skill in Adobe Acrobat Pro, photo editing software, image capture software, web conferencing applications, and FTP applications

Ability to use at least one major learning management system (Blackboard, Canvas, or Moodle) to create and revise courses
