Director of Information and UX Design

About the Role

New Classrooms is responsible for developing innovative offerings that promote personalized learning models and tailored pathways for students. Working cross-functionally and cross-organizationally with designers and developers, this role represents a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative environment designing experiences and presenting complex information and data to multiple users and stakeholders throughout our programmatic journey. This includes but is not limited to, program communications and introduction, platform experiences, and program performance & impact reporting.

What You Would Do

• End to end experience and information design involving both digital and print resources
• Visual design for online applications and reporting tools
• Development of data reports and visualizations for large and complex data sets that drive performance internally and in our partner schools
• Visual design for support and product communications, including email, presentations and print
• Develop assets including flat screen design, design specifications, style guides and interactive prototypes
• Work with multiple teams to establish technical feasibility, and support implementation of designs
• Ensure content is communicated as clearly as possible to drive audience engagement and action
• Develop and promote a consistent design framework consistent with branding and style guidelines
• Employ best practices including research and customer insights, wireframe & prototype development, design pattern libraries and usability testing

What We Are Looking For

• A strong portfolio of work - demonstrating all types of design across various products and reporting platforms including information and UX design
• A strong ability to communicate complex ideas and information with clarity to a wide variety of audiences
• 5+ years of experience in digital design from ideation to delivery
• Passion for visual and information design towards social and educational impact
• Experience in developing visualizations for large and complex content systems, data sets and technology concepts
• Strong project and time management skills and ability to work independently in an agile environment
• Expert in design tools such as Adobe CS, Sketch, Zeplin, Axure
• Established design approach, including presentation of design ideas and concepts.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Preferred knowledge or hands on skills in html, css, javascript and related frameworks

Role Classification,  Benefits & Location

This role is full-time and includes benefits such as rich medical, dental, and vision insurance, 36 paid days off per year (prorated for the period in which you work), paid parental leave, an annual professional development budget and a quarterly cell phone subsidy. There is a preference for this role to be NYC based once the office reopens, however we would be open to this role being remote for the right candidate.
